Debunk the Right Wing: Bill Clinton didn't lie about sex
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 07:52 PM by Must_B_Free
Now that I have heard the testimony of Condi and Tenet, it became strikingly clear to me that Bill Clinton DIDN'T LIE about havind sexual relations with that woman! He only misspoke.

So you see, there was never anything to get excited about. Accidents happen, people misspeak all the time, even under oath. There never really was anything to get excited about.

1. Consensus seems to be...
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 08:31 PM by phaseolus
...that, although in strict legal terms, he didn't actually lie -- but in terms of being truthful & faithful to one's spouse, he did lie. But it was something between him & Hillary, and far from a high crime or misdemeanor worthy of impeachment. I still think he's the best president in my lifetime.

The one thing it most definitely was NOT was perjury, because 1.) the strict legal definition of sex, 2.) it had nothing to do with the Whitewater investigation, and 3,4,5.) a few other reasons I've forgotten. Yet the right wing still loves to call him a "perjurer".

Claiming he misspoke sounds evasive. There's better tactics.

4. You may want to check your history books but I don't remember
him being successfully impeached.

See, how it works is that if the charges "stuck"(i.e. were valid) he would have been removed from office.

12. He was impeached
he was not found guilty. Same as Andrew Johnson. Impeached by House, tried in Senate.

6. Two more things --
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 08:46 PM by phaseolus
1.) Look at your keyboard. There's a rectangular key just to the left of the "A". Press it just once, okay? Thanks. You'll look slightly cleverer.

2.) It's spelled "samurai".

7. Wrong - data is wrong, legal mistake is wrong - and impeachment is
just asking the Senate to remove from office if they found the facts to be true and worthy of removal.

He was not removed.

He paid a fine for saying a door was open that was obviously closed while Monica did him a favor.

5. Sorry - but my hero did lie - not about anything intersting like sex -
but he lied about the door always being open and the distance she was away from him at certain points in time -

normally an err that means nothing - and certainly not perjury - as you noted - but the fine by the judge was for a real reason.

10. actually he didn't lie at all... he asked for the definition of "have sex"
and the courts definition excluded oral sex............ so when he said no .. he was replying truthfully to the court.

14. And Tenet lied under oath
when he said he never spoke with * in August, 2001. His own office said Tenet was lying a few hours later. The Repubs taught us that "no one is above the law." Shouldn't Tenet go to jail? And Condi calling the August, 2001 PDB a "historical" document. Where's Ken Starr?

20. "Where's Ken Starr?"
Happily, the Indepedant Counsil Law died a natural death a few years ago when congress didn't extend it.

17. Hey, if he was with Monica, he wasn't alone, right?
Makes sense to me.

Now George and Laura...there's a mutual vacancy if ever I saw one.

18. Clinton said
he wasn't alone with her because there were other people in the White House all the time.

Got to admire the guys cajones. According to that logic, none of us are ever alone while there are others on earth with us.

22. I agree - and pressing him on door closed/open and distance did not
help.

but if a DA can indict a ham sandwich, I guess a House impeachment along party lines by the majority is always possible as long as all ethics in the majority is pretend (as in who in the House leadership was NOT having an affair or hiding a past affair?).

21. Tee-hee...
In our generation anything short of intercourse WAS NOT DEFINED AS SEX. That's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
My cousin and I were bewildered that a bj was being called "sex."
:silly:  :silly:

Also btw, a TRUE GENTLEMAN doesn't kiss and tell.
