I have the same role at work -- I'm the news/politics girl (or I'm the Lefty Loony, depending on the source).

(Of course, my outspokeness now means my boss knows which buttons to push -- "I heard Howard Dean dropped out," he says every two weeks or so, just to bug me.)

Long story short .

We had the cable gut come over today to hook
up another cable modem. As you know my car
Has Bush Lies in huge white letters across
my front Black Bumper of my car .

Well the cable guy shows up and says this to me
when I open the door .

"you're the lady with bush lies on the front of your car
man I've always wanted to meet you , I knew you'd be a
passionate person . "

After picking my jaw off the floor I reached out and
shook his hand and showed him to the new computer .

He got to listen to Randi Rhodes for an Hour says
he's looking forward to hearing it in his car while
he's driving around . He left with a deception Dollar .
And a smile from ear to ear .

I know they will make me laugh, smile and feel better.

Thanks to DU, I am now the "goto" guy for my mom, wife, some of her coworkers, and my step-daughter. Interestingly enough no guys are asking me anything (though I suspect my dad is close).

Lots don't.

People are just flabberghasted at how much I know about events, politics, etc. and it's all because of this website.

Everyone now knows NOT to mess with me - I'll spew out facts faster than an encyclopedia and they can't keep up.

I have personally made at least three converts myself. It's amazing how dumb most people are on issues.
