Deep Throat may be on the 911 Commission.
I don't know how many of you know this, but Fred Fielding, who, after exhaustive analysis by Watergate scholars, has been considered most likely to be Deep Throat of Watergate fame is on the 911 Commission.

It seems a number of people who've studied it closely think it's Fielding. John Dean himself thinks it's him.

If he is, he's a hero.

ON edit: I was wrong. It was Jonathan Rose that Dean thought was D.T., and just prior to publishing a book on his theory, was forced to change it.

And do you mean literally he was forced or he realized the theory was no longer valid ?

Also have you heard of John's new book " Worse than watergate " ?

John was on Moyer's " NOW " the other night & said that Bush should be empeached on multiple counts.

18. Just before publication,
Rose threatened to sue Dean and evidently provided evidence that proved to Dean's satisfaction that Rose wasn't the guy. So he quickly re-wrote the book to make it a sort of "here's my top 4 candidates" book.

2. I always thought the Bushies. Cheney and the CIA were
more instrumental in bringing down Nixon than the Democrats..just look at who came to power with Ford.

3. I think Poppy Bush was Deep Throat
It was a personal vendetta against Nixon, and not patriotism, that got Poppy to leak info to Woodward.

7. I don't think so
he was never a White House insider during the time in question. Fielding and Buchanan seem to be the likely candidates, with Fielding far and away the more likely.

10. are there pics of Fielding from the watergate days ?
i would like to see what he looked like then. not that we can judge whether he was deep throat based on looks alone. but i am just curious and would like to imagine it.
