war on drugs sucked up resources from war on terror
it's no surprise, but it's been revealed that huge numbers of agents and huge piles of money were wasted tracking down teens with joints, and crackheads with small amounts of crack or coke.

don't know exactly when the stupid phony war on drugs actually began, but so many lives have been ruined by it, and so many resources sidetracked and wasted, all the while, the terrorists were sneaking up on us.

a war on drugs, like a war on terror, can never be declared won, because there will always be people who want drugs, and people who make terror. you might put a small dent in it, but no one will ever be able to stand up and say, 'we've won the war on drugs', or, 'we've won the war on terror'. it's a fantasy.

1. Gotta link for some analysis on this?
I don't doubt for a second that it's true, but I'd like to have something to toss out there...goddamn "war on drugs" and the mentality it represents really piss me off...

3. check out Sojourner magazine on-line; they had an excellent interview
and some articles on this very topic; I think it was the july/aug issue from 2003.
There was a discussion about it here as well, and a link to some articles, will search the archive and see if I can find it.
Sobering stats on how many we imprison in this country for non-violent drug offenses.

2. Every time we wage "war" on nouns...
the nouns win handily.

5. War on terror is idiotic. Just an excuse to make piles of money selling
armaments, stealing resources, pulling Halliburton country "makeovers" after bombing the hell out of them for no good reason.

6. Sadly, the WOD is a smashing success to those
who waged it. The prison industrial complex got fat, rich and happy and now its the military industrial complex's turn. The elimination of drugs in society was a sweet little lie they fed us so we'd gladly let them stuff our tax dollars in their bottomless pockets.

They need drugs and they need terror to keep the goose laying those golden eggs.
