for being morose. It's hard enough looking at pictures of caskets and crying family members. But it's so anesthetized. The American people would not stand for the bloodshed for another day if the media were courageous enough to show the REAL images of war: children with limbs blown off, our soldiers in close range combat, the sweat, the agony, the fear... can you imagine? I suspect it's over 100 degrees in Iraq every day and there are young men and women in full combat gear sweating it out to restore some sort of order in the name of profit. All we hear on the news is that another chopper has been shot down, another jeep blown up, another two Americans killed. What should be out there in the mainstream media are images taken by unembedded reporters (are there any? I think the gov't learned its lesson too well from Vietnam) of those 19 and 20 year olds from some little podunk town in Oklahoma that nobody's ever heard of, or the inner city kid looking for a way out of the ghetto, dressed in steel-toe boots, Army-issue attire, following orders to shoot anything that moves, but they have to wipe the sweat out of their eyes and Iraqi dirt off the back of their necks first, and the days are interminably long, and they just want to sit in some air-conditioned room and play video games, and drink a Pepsi, like they used to, before they got the call (or kick in the ass) to serve, and now they learn that they gotta stay just a few more months, and on the day they thought they were going home, they get ambushed and have to fight for their lives and watch the closest thing they have to family die, but they don't have time to cry, 'cause someone's firing at them from above...
those are the kind of images we should be seeing. The Truth, and voters from both sides of the aisle would be up in arms and DEMAND we get out, and we withdraw and it's another Afghanistan and civil war erupts...and America has done it again.
Shame on you, President Bush, VP Cheney, Rumsfeld... The blood of thousands of people are on your hands. Shame on you.

But here's a direct quote from a real soldier: Michelle Witmer, a young soldier from Wisconsin recently was killed in Iraq. Her sisters, also stationed in Iraq, were sent home for the funeral. Michelle sent an e-mail to her sister Charity last October describing pictures she was shown that were taken at the site of a police station bombing:

"I saw the pictures they took of the scene and their were literally just limbs everywhere it was more horrible than you can imagine and there was so much blood. I hate this place more and more everyday."

Michelle's memorial service was yesterday. Her family, and all the soldiers and their families still in Iraq, stuck in a senseless war, are in my thoughts and prayers. Please forgive me if this message seems exploitave. It's not meant to be. I have nothing but respect for these families. It's just that the American people should be challenged to witness the truth of this war, see what's really going on in Baghdad and Falluja and elsewhere in Iraq's vast dessert. Please bring our troops home soon.

3. He doesn't want to see dead bodies on TV...
and he spoke for all of us, remember, "Nobody wants to see that!" I want to see the truth, I want to READ the truth, I want the MEDIA to report the truth, and the TRUTH is, there are dead soldiers out there. Bush is literally killing his voting base, he just sees votes being buried, that's why it 'sickens' him. He is void of compassion, he's the humpty dumpty president.

he could not get away with it...and he knows it. We should feel sympathetic toward these soldiers and their families. This is not what they volunteered for - contrary to what the right-wingers say.

9. The largest unit rotation in history is going poorly, to say the least
How poorly? Rummy has put on hold his personal "baby" regarding German base closure (US bases) until sometime in 2005 (the decision was to be made public last month); you KNOW he wanted to get that into irreversable momentum before the election in order to collect on those fat private contracts to build unaccompanied bases in Romania, Poland and Bulgaria.

Meanwhile, AAFES (PX etc) is complaining that it has lost a quarter of a million dollars since this war began. You don't say. :eyes:

Thanks for the post...these pictures need to be seen.
Ted Kennedy called this "Bush's Vietnam". It is worse than that.
Vietnam was a war of egos. Iraq is a war of greed and ego combined.

I grieve not only for these families, who believed that they were helping their country, but for the tens of thousands of Iraqis who have been slaughtered in the name of George W. Bush.

26. The TRUTH is muchly needed-
and the ONLY thing that will stop this waste
of lives.
I remember the pictures from Vietnam, back when
we had an actual journalistic media, not this narcissistic
circus of entertainment-laden crap on the networks today.
The media back then flooded the public
with the truth- and it horrified people into
DEMANDING an end to Vietnam.

The American people, are for the large part
couch potatoe patriots who have NO clue
what burning flesh and blood smell like.
If they did, they would demand a stop to
the insanity too.
I blame the media for NOT telling the truth
and the citizens of this country for not insisting they do.

33. I offer my sincere condolences to the families of the departed.
And my wish that the wounded will still have the will to live, and to survive.

As for Chickenshit George, like the "man" said, "No one wants to see dead people on TV!"

It's funny. When they're alive, he calls them "our brave men and women in uniform." When they return home in a casket, they've become "dead people". No mention of Iraqui civilian dead or wounded. They're not even human to this douchebag.

You know, these Republicans are correct. This election WILL be about the character of the President. And I can't fucking wait for November.

Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 07:40 PM by 0rganism
As long as they can believe their children, siblings, and parents are dying for some great and noble cause, maybe it's easier to deal with.

If they let themselves think, for even a short time, that W deceived them and dragged the nation into an optional war to pump up his friends' stock portfolios, they might just go batshit crazy. Hell, I know I would.

dead arriving at the airport in the dead of night and not allowed to be photograped because----? Why because it may serve to show the American people how many of their sons and daughters have been killed--because of the stupidity of an evil man like Bush. An evil liar sent them there and why did he lie? Because he wanted to be the "war president" that got the goddam oil fields for his buddies. He had no idea what he was going to do after he leveled a defenseless Iraq to the ground--shocked and awed them ten thousand innocent civilians to their deaths--they were not even warriors in uniform--they were babies, children, pregnant woman and old men.

This man should not be allowed to continue. HE is evil and he is a killer and war criminal

Why?

Why is he allowed to continue to tell his lies while this goes on?

Why?\

Why are not the Christians of t his country outraged at this slaughter? They consitute 80% of the population and their logo is "love"

Is there no one there that would stop it? That would stop this slaughter done in our name? ARe we all so impotent that we cannot rise against this insanity and this man who is obviously a stupid idiot with nefarious intentions?

Is there no one with the courage to accuse George Bush, a man who stole an election, with murder? Are we all so afraid of this prick of a coward that no one--and i mean NO ONE, will dare speak out?

Where the hell are we living? In nazi Germany? It sure looks and feels like it.

She bore him and raised him and delighted in his babyness and his childhood. She loved him so dearly. George Bush has murdered her baby and has murdered the babies of countless mothers in Iraq.
