1. An injunction will be considered by a judge today
If the injunction is granted, AA will be back on the air soon after.

Copy of the injunction:

2. Correction
An injunction ahs been requested for Chicago.

Nobody has even asked a court to turn LA back on. Unless there is activity behind the scenes that AA is not telling us about, LA will have to wait for liberal radio.

Read the injunction.

15. You may have "posted the URL earlier", but you didn't read it.
Read the section "request for injunctive relief".

This case is ONLY for Chicago. LA is only mentioned briefly on background. The entire brief is about Chicago.

6. Fine with me - I'll wait for a quality station
1580 KBLA was a crappy station anyway. 1590 was always bleeding in for me...

8. I hear ya.
The contract they have for KBLA is until the end of 2005. Maybe once the network takes off more in the next years, they might be able to get a better station in LA. I'd love it if they took over KFI.

10. Ha,,,what would be awesome someday
Kick Rush and the other idiots on KFI to the dumpster where they belong.

Well, I guess the only hope is that the contract gets voided - sounds like KBLA breached it by yanking them off the air and I'm sure the stopping payment on the check doesn't help...

We'll see I guess. Thank goodness for the live stream!

9. Boortz story -- guess it's true?
Got this from conservative host Neal Boortz' page. Guess this is true? If so -- stupid!
--------------------------------------
Jim Watkins is the program director for my affiliates in Naples and Ft. Meyers, Florida (WINK-AM and WNOG-AM). Several weeks ago he contacted the people at Air America to inquire about putting Al Franken somewhere on his radio station. Watkins remembered Al Franken from his Saturday Night Live days and felt that he might be entertaining and could draw an audience.

Watkins gets an official from Air America on the phone. The Air America official asks Jim what other programs they carry. Jim starts rattling off the names. Boortz, Limbaugh, Savage. At that point the Air America official says "Stop." He then informs Watkins that they won't allow their programming to air on WINK and WNOG. And why not? Because "We don't want our programming stained by being on a station that carries Rush Limbaugh."

Is that not amazing? Liberals are complaining that their voices aren't being heard on talk radio. Then they get a call from a radio station that wants to give these great liberal voices an audience in Southwest Florida .. and they say no! Could it be because they know that their liberal message will not survive exposure to Limbaugh? Could it be that they know the liberal message only gets a foothold when there is nobody around exposing the lies, the half-truths and the complete lack of common sense and logic?

------------------------------------

I hate that we're giving this guy ammo.

12. "We" are giving this guy ammo?
First of all, this is a Boortz story - therefore the dialogue is highly dubious.
Secondly, the nugget of truth there might be that Air America is emerging as a network, and therefore doesn't sell its programs piece meal.
Sorry you disagree with that.

14. It's not ammo. They are trying to start a network. Randi's old station
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 12:33 PM by xultar
is carrying her in Flordia.

What they are doing will work better for them in the long run. It is BIG picture.

They want to be able to use their content as a negotiating point. In radio there is a big competition between distributership (syndication) and content.

I'm assuming that they want to make a point when the FCC releases mHz so they can begin to build their own stations.

Think of it as NBC allowing some ABC markets to play that stupid TRUMP show.

16. Boortz is wrong
Boortz was just on the O'Franken Factor, and Al debunked this claim. Maybe that's why DUers avoid citing right-wing nuts.
