Do You Consider Iraq a "War"???
I know. It has the prerequisite “things that go boom” and dead bodies. But I think of wars like WW’s I & II where there was an aggressor nation, and we joined in to stop the aggression. This Iraq situation to me is a massive set of lies that we used as an alibi to “break and enter”. It makes me sick to hear the media refer to us as a “nation at war” and felon Bush as a “war President”. As for the so-called “War on Terror”, that, too, is horse crap. It cannot be handled by war...it’s only hope is international cooperation in policing, ferreting out the vermin, and reducing their strikes to a minimum. The only thing in all this that is remotely like WW’s I or II is that our mentality is still stuck back in those eras.

5. As much as I see a 21 yr/old beating up a 12 yr/old as Boxing
It's more of an assualt and battery. The only difference is that the bully in our case is seriously out-numbered by pissed off armed to the teeth "targets".

6. Invasion and occupation
Sounds like war to me.

You have a point with the "War on Terror". If we were serious about stopping terrorism, we sure as hell wouldn't have invaded Iraq.

There used to be a "War on Poverty". Whatever happened to that?

7. Whatever happened to "War On Poverty"?
Clinton detoured it, and Bushwa is doing his best to lose *that* war.

10. You can't wage war against VERBS
Michael Moore put this into words way better than I can, but it's true. You wage war against a group of people, a nation, a terrorist organization. You can't wage war against an action or a thought or an ideal. Well, unless you brainwash everyone, and kill those you can't. Oh wait....

9. We invaded and their army went to ground. No war.
But we are war like, as if we were fighting a real army.

11. We *are* the agressor nation here.
We are the bad guys. We attacked a nearly unarmed country for the spoils of war.

13. It's a war
I think of Vietnam, which was referred to by the mainstream as a 'police action' for years. Not calling it what it is sanitizes it. War is war. Doesn't matter who starts it or why, it's war. Organized murder, as one author put it. (Chris Hedges, War Is A Force That Gives Us Meaning--an *excellent* anti-war book; don't let the title fool you.)

Respectfully, I think your real anger is at the way the term is used by Iraq hawks to stir up jingoism.
