Bush Forbid College Newspapers Covering His Iowa Address!!
Just heard on Keith Oberman's Countdown. He gave the new poll results showing that Kerry was 48% to Bush's 38% with college students and said "and this won't help". He said that the campus newspapers of U of Iowa, Iowa State and a community college applied for passes and were turned down. One of them received a call and was told that Bush does not want college papers covering his addresses. Wake up America--why is this Nazi propaganda machine now even afraid of students?? We are being manipulated right down to his "audiences". Don't have to go looking for any bin Laden---we have the portrait of Evil right in front of us.

2. report from IA State Daily
From the article

....

"I think they missed out on a huge opportunity for getting the president's message out to students," he said.

Allsup said he was later contacted by the White House press office and told the president didn't want students covering the event in Des Moines.

"The fact they called me and told me that really pissed me off," he said.

5. Des Moines Register story
....

Student newspapers at Des Moines Area Community College and Iowa State University were turned away from the noon event at the Marriott hotel in downtown Des Moines after submitting requests for media credentials on time, they said.

Reporters and photographers for the DMACC Chronicle and Iowa State Daily said their organizations were not on the list of approved media when they arrived, despite faxing their request for credentials ahead of the 2 p.m. Wednesday deadline.

Chronicle reporter Mike Allsup said White House advance staff told him his time would be better spent in school. "It really is not fair that we represent 14,000 students at my college and I'm disregarded and sent away," said Allsup, of Des Moines.

8. bobbie--I liked some of their insights
I'm originally from Iowa and lived there before coming out east in my mid 40's. I was interested in seeing that it said there was some economic improvement in the urban areas but not in the rest (i.e, rural areas). The urban areas are strong Dem bastions (i.e., Dubuque, Davenport, Des Moines, Iowa City, etc.) and the rural was always the repuke part. They bitched in there about funding farm susidies or aide------if he falls out of favor in rural areas to any degree he doesn't have a chance of taking Iowa this time either.

...let the fools go down as they reveal themselves for what they really are. In other words, who cares?

10. He has always managed his audiences
Edited on Fri Apr-16-04 08:37 PM by Snoggera
Remember the girl who was arrested for turning her back during a speech? (sorry - I have no link handy. It was a while back). How about "regular folks" that had to take their ties off before his speech? How about talking to military audiences where he KNOWS there will be no dissent.
