I think the right wing are trying to get the public to think the panel is "liberal" just like they did with the media. I don't think they even believe the panel will go after Bush, but I think that they want to give themselves some insurance. If the panel doesn't blame Bush, then even the "liberal" 9/11 Commision didn't blame Bush. If they do blame Bush, then it's because the panel is liberal.
The right wing completely convinced the American public that the media is liberal, and they are now trying to do the same thing with the 9/11 panel.
My question is, why doesn't our side do the same thing? Every day there is another right wing politician in the media telling the public how the panel is biased against Bush and for Democrats, even though they obviously don't believe it.
Why doesn't our side try things like that very often, if ever? It worked very well when the right constantly spread the lie about the "liberal media" - in fact, they still do. It's still more common to hear right wing talking heads complain about the "liberal media" than it is to hear liberal talking heads telling the truth about the "right wing media".
Why won't our side, our elected officials specifically, speak up as loudly and clearly as those on the right?
