What's wrong with the idea...?

That we can go into the Middle East and create a democracy that will bring stability to that part of the world? That we can bring all the different tribes and religious sects together for one common good of their nation? That we can control and manipulate the events to our advantage and make the world a better place?

What's wrong with the idea that people who have had guns all their lives, but refused to assassinate their dictator - not even with a car bomb - somehow are now going to give up their guns and live in peace amongst all the other different groups in their fragmented nation? What's wrong about wanting a democracy in the Middle East - more specifically, Iraq? Why is it not possible?
