President Bush couldn't think of a single mistake during his April 13 press conference. We have some suggestions.

In his April 13 press conference, President Bush refused to admit making any mistakes and refused to take any responsibility for the actions of his administration. He repeatedly failed to answer serious questions about the increasingly dangerous situation in Iraq and repeated distortions and outright lies that have long been discredited.

My president talks like Yogi Berra, and his defense secretary sounds like Casey Stengel. In fact, baseball's two most noted language-manglers tell us a lot about what's going on these days.

Berra is a great guide to Bush-speak. Without Yogi, it is difficult to comprehend what Bush means when he says there is nothing new about the United States' (or his) embrace of Israel's planting of settlements all over the West Bank over the objections of a half-dozen other American presidents. Berra would have said it this way: "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

Or perhaps these quotes from Yogi might be even better applied to any aspect of our Middle East policy on the roads from Jerusalem to Fallujah:

# "We're lost but we're making good time."

# "You've got to be careful if you don't know where you're going because you might not get there."

# "I really didn't say everything I said."

This is Stengel doing Rumsfeld-speak:

# "There comes a time in every man's life, and I've had plenty."

# "All right, everybody line up alphabetically according to your height."

# "Well, I made up my mind, but I made it up both ways."

The Berra quote that seemed appropriate last week as Bush and Rumsfeld tried to explain what they were doing was this one: "We made too many wrong mistakes."

The CIA said that its director, George Tenet, personally briefed President George W. Bush in August 2001, countering a statement Tenet made to the commission investigating the September 11 attacks.

"We looked at his schedule," a CIA spokeswoman told AFP. "Mr. Tenet did fly down to Texas and briefed the president on August 17." He also briefed Bush on August 31 in Washington, she added.

Tenet briefed Bush at least six times in the first eight days of September 2001, as well, the spokeswoman said.

On Wednesday, Tenet told the commission he did not meet with Bush in August 2001.

"I didn't see the president. I was not in briefings with him during this time. He was on vacation; I was here" in Washington, he said.

"In this time period, I'm not talking to him," Tenet added, noting that they had not even spoken by phone at the time.

Right now he is including War of Terror and War of Iraq one and the same. According to the VA handbook ..Enduring Freedom..War of Afghanastan and Iraqi Freedom is the Iraqi War. Now he has combined the two and who knows what this thig is called after the aircraft carrier landing with Major hostalities over. Mission Accomplished. It sure is something to look into. They say it is a peackeeping mission right now but they don't differentiate between Iraq War and War on Terror. Go figure? Congress gave him authority to pre emptively strike. He can war anywhere !

Waaaaaaaay too many viruses !

took me almost 6 solid hours to disinfect. lost pretty much a whole day of work...

and I NEVER open attachments unless they are from someone I know (and that pretty much means only lead sheets from my writing partner.

this 'peper trojan' comes in through a spybot which throws a pop-up which downloads the virus. you 'think' you're hitting ENTER to load a page, but it gets 'assigned' (?) to this sudden pop-up instead.

be careful kids....

I also got extremely nasty hate mail supposedly about my on-line store (www.cafeshops.com/nostamj) but the freeper was ranting about a shirt that I don't sell....

Big Difference ! Talk show hosts have got to make all sides think and sarcasam has its place but not full time. Parody has its place but people need to be informed.

debate. You are right about Talking radio and not Talk Radio

She's on Saturdays and Sundays.

Frankly, I like the change off from talk to talking thorughout the week. I figure that I'm getting good information from all the fantastic interviews they've had. I don't really get much from hearing some freeper call in and get argued with. Franken has one of my favorite shows. I like just about all of the broadcasts for different reasons.

Just setting the record straight. I look forward to her broadcast and wouldn't want folks to get the wrong impression about the weekend lineup.

And they'll be adding new programming to the weekends very soon. Give them a chance, will ya! I'm just glad they didn't wait to get on the air given that the election is looming.

Facts need airing which right-wing lumps often refuse to hear, or deny altogether.

A LOT of thorough,active awareness is required if a host is going to be effective.

On edit: Hearing the opening shows made me anxious and depressed as it seemed he believed his entertainer's presence was all that was needed. That would be a big mistake.

That and taking ALL callers, and lots of calls, is a must. Pre-prepared is fine if you're Rush and the Reich has paid for you to become a household name but not if you're fighting for your life.

Comedians I would think is a hard job but a look at good broadcasters,
they have a lot to do. A LOT ! And talk about wierd hours ! And Money..Oh Lordie..How one has to worry about staying on the air ! All that and keep your wits an grammer together ! Also...no dead time..That is the kiss of death. A comedian has a very hard job but he can make faces and wait for applause..Broadcaster on TV can do that but not on radio....
