Poll question: Should Kerry appoint extremist judges?
By extremist think of the people who were accused of running ANSWER and fringe groups like the Socialist Workers Party. They'd be the left wing equivalent of the judges * is appointing.

1. No, he shouldn't...
Nor does he need to. Clinton didn't, and yet he appointed two very good ones! Kerry needs to be known--especially following Dub--as the president who appointed, steady, intelligent, open-minded justices and judges. He could have a shot at shaping the face of the Federal judiciary for many years. Showing the RIGHT--as opposed to the right-wing--way to do that sets a vital precedence.

B-)

2. if he appointed judges like
William O. Douglas, William Brennan, Hugo Black, and Thurgood Marshall I would be very happy--and they turned out to be strongly liberal judges.

5. Are they even out there?
Seems to me you've got to work the system to get to a position where you could even be considered. Do these folks exist?

6. Extremist Judges are not the answer
President Clinton did a good job of coming up with middle of the road type judges and most were confirmed. Hopefully, President Kerry would continue this policy.

Remember, we have shown the Repugs how effective a filibuster is and made ideology a criterion for judicial selections. This means that we will have a hard time in sending liberal extremists to the bench.
