I went to my Kerry meetup tonight. Ask me anything.
The one I went to was small because I went somewhere different than where I went the previous time. I don't drink a lot of coffee, but I love getting hot chocolate at a coffee shop. The atmosphere is so relaxing and that coffee shop makes a great hot chocolate.

and take Colorado?

3. Not quite.
We are confident about beating Bush, we are just concerned that Kerry might not see Colorado as viable for him. The concern is that he may not use money to air ads in CO or make campaign stops. But we have also talked about the growing population of Democrats and Colorado becoming a swing state.

11. I really think he can take it. Tim Wirth is his closest friend

and Gary Hart still carries alot of juice, especially after the Hart-Rudman report his bona fides are solid.

I firmly believe that THEY firmly believe that they MUST do everything in their power to take down Bush in November.

4. How many people were at yours?
I have to laugh when on the meetup page it suggests 'split into groups of 20'.... our last meetup was me and two Clarke supporters (by accident, long story), and this one was me, two other sane people, and one who was insane. Really. I wish I were kidding. But the two normal people were pretty cool :D

5. Insane? Please tell.
Did they keep coming up with schemes for advertising campaigns that you knew would never work nor would they ever make it to the actual Kerry campaign?

9. No, like socially inept/ schizotypal
Where we were meeting, there was also a poetry reading night. So the three of us were sitting quietly discussing at a corner table. He came in, and at a volume loud enough to be heard over the whole room, says "Oh! I found you! I'm so glad! I'm going to go get a coffee!" Went on and on about how he lived in Florida, how he worked with Janet Reno, how he was part of the "original 8 people who did something about the ballot fraud...blah, blah blah, etc." Delusions of grandeur sounds so cliche, but that was what it was. Going on and on about the repubs, even after we all said several times "you're preaching to the choir" and "ok, so what can we do?" etc. Just very little understanding of basic social and group interaction skills, inability to control the volume of his voice, apparently, (they came over to ask him to be quiet a couple of times :() etc. So after he left, we decided at the next meet-up, we are meeting a 1/2 hour early, in case he shows up again. We'd like to actually get something done.

7. I just got back from mine in Boulder.
They picked a terrible location. It was a brew pub, and there wasn't any large place where a group of people to meet, and it was so loud that we couldn't even hear ourselves talk.

I ended up getting a booth with a couple of guys, one of whom is a Naderite who hates Kerry, but is working hard to get him elected anyway, and another guy. I spent quite awhile talking to just the second guy. There didn't really seem to be a "meeting" as such. It was horribly disorganized compared to last month's meetup, which was held at Boulder's party headquarters.

That was about it, although I did purchase a couple of Kerry t-shirts made by the guy who hates Kerry. They're really very nice.

14. I actually live just outside of Boulder
and don't have much of a social life, so I don't get out alot.

Much of the downtown area has been torn up with road work for a couple of years, and that has interrupted the business flow, and caused some places to go out of business. My sister had a restaurant there that went out of business a couple of years ago.

Crossroads Mall is practically a ghost town, while a new mall in Broomfield has been has been doing huge business.

The Middle school that 3 generations of my family went to was recently shut down. Some other schools have been as well. There is a general sense that the city is very poorly run.

I've only just started getting involved in politics. Boulder county remains a bastion of liberalism and activism. As I get out more, I should have a better feel for the place.

Sorry to sound depressing.

When did you live there?

13. Sounds like more of the GOP operatives disrupting the choice of sites.
They do that to disperse the participants.

12. I went to one here in Virginia
We had about 35 people, and a lot was discussed (voter registration tables at colleges, Kerry info at the shopping areas, and some local political issues.) Most of the people were retirement-age and all were white. I would've liked to see some age and racial diversity there.
