Anybody see Arianna Huffington last night on the Daily Show?
She is a hoot. I like her even if she used to be a Republican. She said the Democrats need to clean house and throw out the Bush* apologists like Daschel. She said the Deaniacs shook up the establishment and put them on the right track for the country. I for one agree with her. I think the Democrats have been on the wrong track for the last few years and a change is needed desperately. I am not now nor ever was a Deaniac but I loved his spunk and directness. Arianna Rocks as for as I'm concerned.

22. No, She Didn't AND....
when the Arnold debacle happened (he announced after her) she did end up dropping out and campaigning for Bustamante in order to defeat Arnold, I appreciated that.

I went to a lot of the Gov debates and she was awesome....my 13 y/o daughter got interested in being on the debating team after seeing her. I really appreciate Arianna!! She's a force for good.

I remember her in her Conservative days and I will say this -- when she got a foot in the door to that Compassionate Conservative crowd and saw what a big lie it all was, she renounced it which I though was awesome. I'd love to have a President who could actually admit a mistake and try to reverse it!!!!!!!

She is ridiculously pretty in person, I don't know how old she is but would love to know what she does to her skin, it's beautiful and not in a "face lift" way...she's always drinking water!

My daughter went dressed as Arianna (suit, lipstick, pearls) for Celeb Day at her school, you dress as your fave celeb. LOL!

20. Arianna Fans: Tune In To Left Right And Center Today
Actually I'm not sure she will be on today because last week she was on a book tour. But usually she is a regular on this debate show every week which attempts to be a "dinner party instead of a food fight."

Great LA Times columnist Robert Scheer is a regular also. I really love this show. I'm not sure if it's on other NPR stations but you can stream it at www.kcrw.org today at 2:30 Pacific time.

I never miss it!

She confused me.I like her though and her accent is lovely I agree. Thats why Bill Maher fake proposed marriage to her instead of fake proposing to Manne Coulter.

12. However you feel about her as Messenger...
Consider the message.

The 2004 presidential election will be a political event with unprecedented significance for our lives and the lives of our children. Bush Republicans have offered a messianic vision of a new world built on tax cuts. This call has proven incredibly alluring: it's clear, it's broad, and it's accessible. Democrats need to present a vision that is equally clear, broad, and accessible, and that answers the fundamental question: what sort of America do we want to live in? Do we want an America that's fair and generous and demands the best of its citizens, an America where equal opportunity is a reality, not an empty slogan, an America that is respected around the world for its commitment to freedom and justice, an America that takes on the mantle of superpower in order to confront repression, relieve suffering, and preserve world peace? Can we aspire again to creating a country where full-time work yields a living wage and where good schools and good health care forge a stronger America in which every citizen is better off?

If the question is accurately framed, the Bush Republicans' one-note answer doesn't even have the virtue of self-interest. An America where the gulf between rich and poor is not so grotesque, where hard work is rewarded, where every child can get a decent education, and where health care is available to everyone is a stronger America for us all -- including Bush Republicans.

These are long-standing American ideals, not inventions of the left. But an indication of how successful the Republican machine has been at framing the overarching political debate is that even in times of dire emergency, when a state like California is facing the prospect of bankruptcy, tax increases, which should be a viable fiscal lifeline, are instead seen as a suicide pill. We've gotten to the point in this country where you can't raise taxes to repel an invasion from Mars unless you are able to disguise them as an economic stimulus package.

So here we are, watching the social contract go up in flames, not just in California, but in the entire country. It's a blaze ignited by the fanatics and watched helplessly by the fools. But ushering Bush and his band of fanatics out of the White House in 2004 is going to take more than just a critique, however masterful, of what they've done to our country. It's going to take a moral vision that replaces the dark grasping of the Bush administration. And given the stakes, and the way our political system is currently structured, it's going to have to be the Democratic presidential candidate who provides it.

14. To win this next election
we need all the people we can to light a fire under the Democratic Party. Old line conservatives like Pat Buchanan, libertarians alarmed about the Fatherland Security Act, and anyone else just pissed off at chimpy should be welcomed into our fold. After next January we can arugue about the best way to clean up the mess chimpy left us. But until then anyone opposing the present regime is welcome to the big tent. Arianna rocks IMHO.

I'd also love to see someone like Dean in the Senate to oppose Daschel for leadership, hopefully to the Speaker's post when we regain control.

She is charming, intelligent, witty, and very well-dressed. I would say she's 50-ish but looks damn good for her age. She's a very pretty woman.
