If Bush wins, there's only 343 DAYS LEFT before he reinstates the DRAFT!
For 6 months now, I have been predicting that Bush will ask Congress on April 1, 2005 for the reinstatement of the DRAFT. "We're not going to cut and run from Iraq--that's why I'm asking you to reauthorize conscription", he'll say--and they'll give it to him or be unpatriotic.

The SSS FY 2004 plan reduces the DRAFT ACTIVATION time down from the current 6 months to just 75 days by March 31, 2005. On that day the SSS must report to the Director that the whole machinery is oiled up and ready to go by June 15, 2005.

Expect that date, the earliest possible date we can conscript (without giving away the GOP playbook), to be the first DRAFT LOTTERY since 1973. Any male out there who will be 20 anytime during 2005 is eligible. A Medical and Special Skill DRAFT will induct tens of thousands of male and female doctors, nurses, programmers, engineers and linguists under the age of 45. You would have to sign up at the local PO if those occupations are listed on your IRS form. The deadline for YOU signing up would be May 1, 2005 if what I predict comes to pass.

Did I mention that the Pentagon could ask for many other occupations they have a shortage of?

Now don't forget that Kerry has his NO-DRAFT PLAN that I explained yesterday, so no posts on him drafting too, unless you can explain why his NO-DRAFT PLAN will not work--which means you first have to go over his 40,000 troop plan and Civilian Stability Corps idea and really know it.

BUSH 'O4 = DRAFT 04/01/05

1. It matters not who wins
There will be a draft regardless. Kerry can't stop it. It WILL HAPPEN!!!

That's how fucked up we are right now. The only way the United States can continue is with a draft. the responsibility for this fuckup lies with the Bush administration and every last Congresscritter who voted to approve the IWR.

2. Aha, a taker! OK Walt, you are saying Kerry's NO-DRAFT PLAN
will not work.

Please explain what Kerry's Civilian Stability Corps is and the potential for restructuring the nearly one million non-active-duty personnel in the Armed Services.

Then explain how sharing control and bringing in NATO to Iraq would not reduce pressure on the military. Also please explain to me how Kerry turning to Special Ops to catch al-Qeuda (Kerry on MTP) would need a DRAFT while you're at it.

Thanks for playing!

5. Because it is too late to do anything other than a draft
The United States military is so overextended and so overdeployed that there is but one solution, a draft.

Kerry's plan is doomed to failure before it is ever implemented. It is dependent upon an already pissed off world saying, "okay, United States, we were just pissed off at that last guy you had in charge. All is forgiven and we will send in our troops to die beside your troops because after all, you no longer have that last idiot in charge."

It won't happen. It's pie in the sky pollyannaism at its finest. It's a pipe dream that will never see fruition.

In the meantime, more troops die, more troops are needed, and there's nobody on the homefront to take care of the situaion in Utica, IL because the National Guard has an extended tour of duty in Iraq.

Kerry needs to face the facts. Bush screwed us royally and the only way out is a draft.

3. I agree, Walt Starr.........
that we've come to the point that no matter who wins the election, the military is now stretched so thin that a draft will be needed to replenish the ranks.

4. You too, theDeb
What have heard of Kerry's ideas on how to avoid having to resort to the DRAFT? Of course if China invades the mainland US, we might need a DRAFT.

ONLY PNAC needs a DRAFT. If we let Iraq have a true deomcracy and they elect the leaders they want, there is no need for us to be there as Saddam is done and the WMDs are not there.

You have heard how Kerry wants to add 2 divisions to the Army and fight a different war on terror. Please explain how he proposes to do that and why it will not work.

Thanks for playing!

6. WRONG!
ONLY PNAC needs a DRAFT. If we let Iraq have a true deomcracy and they elect the leaders they want, there is no need for us to be there as Saddam is done and the WMDs are not there.

The ONLY WAY to avoid a draft is to cut and run ASAP. Doing that is as big a violation of international law as going in there in the first place was.
