How will the Iraqis and other Arabs react to the siege in Fallujah....?
if it appears the Americans are ready to go in and clean up? With massive loss of life? Or will they throw down their guns and surrender? I don't think so.

If there is an attack on Fallujah, will the Arabs counter attack someplace else? Or will they attack Americans first, closeby, as a diversion to get troops to withdraw? What will be the Arab strategy?

4. “Al-melaach wiyana, "
The angels be with you. I was afraid of this. They have gone in already but it is being unreported....until the Americans have control and then the media will be there to show the victory...But they will not be permitted to show the blood and the dead and the suffering.

It is a massacre in the process - as we speak - but no one hears the tree falling in the forest. Is this the way to win a war? Violent and overwhelming force....nothing else matters.

2. This will drive the bulk of the Iraqis away from the US
The siege of Fallujah has been a very polarizing event and has alienated a large number of Iraqis. There have been reports of civilian causalities and massacres that have really angered the Iraqis. If there is a large scale leveling of the town, then we can expect some strong reactions from the Iraqis

5. I feel that if they could take Fallujah they would have by now

Fallujah is like a mini Palestine. If Israel could wipe out all Palestinians they would. But they can't. They can indiscriminately kill as many civilians as they please but their actions only harden the resistance. There is a serious denial going on in the Bush cabal. The commanders know better. They know that any renewed offensive there will slaughter countless innocents and not reduce the resistance violence one bit. You hear this talk of 'hearts and minds'. We are way beyond the point where the damage to our credibility among Iraqis can be repaired. The restart of offensive action in Fallujah will signal a new intransigence, a moving of a line in the sand back and forth. We will only dig a bigger hole for our soldiers and further alienate any fringe of moderates that may have aligned with our mission there.

6. there already reacting. . .
they've seen unimaginable images of the elderly, women, and children slaughtered on Al-Jaseerah (sp?). All whilst were quibbling over photographs of a few dozen coffins. We couldn't be dealing with this in a more insensitive manner. I fear for our children's future.

Pre-* I never used to feel that way.
