..and again I'll answer: The Democrats are here!

In response to:

Regardless of whether you believe the democrats have done enough, the charge that "the democrats have done nothing" or asking (daily) "where are the democrats" is ludicrous.

Floor Statement of Sen. Daschle on the Abuse of Government Power

-------------------------------------

"What did the president know and when did he know it?" demanded House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt of Missouri, repeating Ms. McKinney's reprise of the famous impeachment slogan used against President Richard Nixon during the Watergate-scandal era.

The biggest finger-pointer was Sen. Hillary Clinton. Brandishing a newspaper with the front-page headline, "Bush Knew!" she appeared on the Senate floor to declare, "The president knew what? My constituents would like to know the answer."

-------------------------------------

Democrats criticize Bush on war, domestic

-------------------------------------

Democrats criticize Bush Medicare plan

--------------------------------------

Kennedy: 'Iraq is George Bush's Viet Nam'

--------------------------------------

Candidate Wesley Clark criticizes Bush

--------------------------------------

Dean Criticizes Bush Tax Cut

--------------------------------------

Kerry criticizes Bush...

--------------------------------------

Just Google "__________________ (insert either "democrats" or a specific democrats name) criticizes Bush" or "slams Bush."

3. ..a better question is...
If A Democrat Stands Up In Public And Shouts and DU critics of the democrats don't hear or notice, has he or she actually done it?

25. Exactly. The Dems are not silent but the media often is.
Unless the Dems happens to say something like "we are not safer with Saddam captured." Then the media jumps on that Dem and questions his/her sanity and fitness for elected office.

7. If one wishes to respond to a premise
wouldnt the best place for that response be in the actual thread itself? I applaud Q's thread starter, believe it ask very real questions and wonder why wyldwolf didnt respond above within the context of that thread?

...that only the admins and mods can decide where and how something can be posted.

...and for showing how a certain element in DU can be very insulting when they are disagreed with.

14. why yes... and here are a few suggestions
see the "ignore" feature next to my name? Use it.

see that there is an "ask the admin" forum? Use it to whine about me not posting in the thread you think I should have posted in.

Otherwise, address the message and not whether you think it's placement is proper.

13. a certain element in DU can be very insulting when they are disagreed with
And while DU rules would prohibit me from naming such an element, I believe their initials start with D and end with C, with an L somewhere in the middle (but leaning heavily to the right) ;)

17. It is one thing to criticize...
it is another to IMPEACH. All talk + no action = nothing.

19. do you know how the impeachment process begins?
It begins in the House.

Who controls the House?

Answer that question and you'll understand that impeachment isn't a real option at this point.

26. Wow and to think all of my...
civics classes were for naught. How many Democrats are calling for impeachment of Bush and Cheney? How many Democrats are calling for the resignation of Rumpsfeld, Wolfowitless, Condi and the rest?

</snark>

27. So what you're saying is calling for Bush's impeachment...
..is the ONLY thing the democrats can do to satisfy you?

Forget that without the power to do so, it would be an empty threat.

They criticize his policies daily... but just aren't promising the one thing they can't deliver.

Sen. Bob Graham (D-FL):

"If the standard of impeachment that the Republicans set for Bill Clinton -- a personal, consensual relationship was the basis for impeachment, would not a president who knowingly deceived the American people about something as important as whether to go to war meet the standard of impeachment?"

Democratic presidential candidate Gen. Wesley Clark is calling on the House of Representatives to begin an impeachment probe into what he says was President Bush's decision to invade Iraq under false pretenses.

Asked by a reporter if he thought Bush's decision to attack Iraq constituted an "impeachable offense," Clark said Thursday, "Let's have that investigation done."

18. Hillary rules!
The kqrs morning repuke show aired a clip of her in anger and then they harped on "It's all Bill Clinton's fault!", as usual... (sigh, those jerkwads who I hope the FCC fines to bankruptcy keep forgetting that their bedbuddies Reagan and Bush I were big friends of OBL and Hussein at the time. I'm sure they knew then what scumbags they were. What changed?)

While there are glib generalizations being made, some of our elected officials do have the guts to speak up.

23. i have never hung out with a bunch of democrats before
here i am 42 and i now realize, before this board i have never been around a lot of democrats. when i lived in liberal areas the people i was around didnt do politics, and now i have for 15 years lived in a really conservative place and i am the only, yes only liberal i know.

in listening to those n the board, i am getting how we cannot come together, we all wnat exactly what we want adn if we dont get we yell at the nominee and say we arent going to support. that is kinda wussy

and childish and not the way the world works. reminds me of a business, and some kid that doesnt even know how to work, putting their self interest and worth way beyond where it should be

also a real pessimism that feeds

so i agree with your post. though i dont know where i am going, or have refined thought to pinpoint what i am seeing..........wtf to it all

i feel good where we are in this election and all the data we have to put out yet adn the time we have to do it.

24. well, thank you
Though I agree that democrats need to be criticised for various things, there is a very selfish "all or nothing" crowd on this board when it comes to their personal political idealogy that I feel the need to respond to when the opportunity presents itself. And the opportunity presents itself here often.

One of the reasons the rightwing has been so successful is that there isn't this petty infighting we witness here.
