Poll question: Veep poll of more or less confirmed considerations
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 12:56 PM by Bombtrack
I'm not overly thrilled with the feild of candidates that it has been reported the campaign is looking at. Particularly all the Gephardt talk. There are only 2 or 3 of these real considerations that I would be really glad with, and they aren't getting the sort of scoop types of stories as of late as some others.

Anyway if I didn't preface this with notes about Clark and to a lesser extent it's inevitable they would thrown out below. So I'll just say I believe from everything I've read about the process from the Kerry campaign, the democratic party rumblings, and perhaps from both men themselves, they aren't real considerations. Both men have ruled it out to a signifigant degree(Richardson more) and have shown a disinterest in it. Sorry but if someone wants to start a poll with Clark they can. I know alot of people want him. Just vote of the choices available.

24. He also knows the issues at every level of goverment better than almost
all the other candidates. Florida is a very complicated and important state and he is the most popular politician in it.

3. Honestly I'm starting to get tired of all the media speculation
and stories about who might be the v.p. They are making it out to be some sort of game, and I'm beginning to not care all that much who he picks.

If it is Gephardt, fine.

If it is Clark, great.

If it is Edwards, wonderful.

If it is someone else, good.

Did the Kerry people focus group for the candidate that inspires the least feeling whatever across the political spectrum?

6. Edwards, Gephart, and Graham...
...should be the clear choices for no other reason than they are all stepping down from their positions this year. Is it guaranteed that the void any of the others would leave would be filled by a dem?

11. My first post--don't flame me!
Gephardt may not be the most inspiring candidate, but he brings an operation that is too closely tied to labor to ignore. If we're going to carry states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Missouri, we need someone who can mobilize the blue collar rank and file.

16. One word IOWA
Gephardt's operation has pretty much only acomplished one thing. Built up the false impression that he can mobilize the blue collar rank and file.

The man is a failure. Iowa demontrates that in a very large degree. He is not the favorite son of the midwest as his cronies would so love for everyone to believe. He isn't even the favorite son of Missouri. I'm not flaming you at all. But Kerry needs someone with everything Gephardt does not have. Kerry is extremely dronish and that is one of his biggest problems. But Gephardt makes him look like Richard Pryor in comparison. This in addition to him losing seats election after election after election. He's even worse than Kerry at never answering a question asked of him with a response fitting of the question asked.

People have this rust belt/Gephardt/rust belt/Gephardt thinking probably in large part because he looks like a guy who should be named rusty. He's just a failure when it comes to leadership and delivering on his promises. I am deathly afraid of Kerry picking him

17. Good points.
I hear everything you are saying about Gephardt on a personal level and Iowa definitely took the air out of his claim to be the favorite of the rust belt. But I still believe that we really need to focus on someone with that dynamic. If not Gephardt--fine. I won't lose any sleep over it. I just don't want those bastards to pull the same crap that they did in 2000 and peel off some of the labor vote using false claims.

In other words, I agree with your statement.

22. did you read my post?
Richardson has ruled it out over and over and over and over again.

He can't do quadruple duty. He is a year and half into his first term as governor. He is Co-Chairman of the John Kerry campaign in New Mexico. And he is chairman of the democratic National convention.

And despite Clark being a probable favorite for veep here, there hasn't been one reputable report of any campaign staffer indicating he is in consideration. Unlike all the people I put up. Believe me I think he'd be a better choice than a number of them. But those are my criteria for choices.

26. NONE OF THE ABOVE: That wasn't a choice. Or OTHER
I'm sorry. I truly do not for one minute believe that Kerry and Clark have honest ruled out such a ticket. Kerry's not a fool. He could create a campaign that will sparkle and shine, or he can have a campaign where he runs like the "Lurch" repukes like to paint him as.

IMHO, the charisma they share when they're together rivals a Kennedy-style charisma. Clark doesn't outshine Kerry at all when they're together, if that's what Kerry's afraid of. The chemistry of the TWO OF THEM TOGETHER only makes Kerry look more charismatic.

I also think that the leaders of countries all over the world would heave a deep sigh of relief to see the two of them working together to try to straighten out the mess that the wingnuts have gotten us into.

27. Once again. If you can point to a report from a reputable newssource
in which clear evidence is presented by people connected to the Kerry campaign about Clark being in consideration I'd like to see it. I've seen it for all the other people I posted. Many of them I'd be absolutely pissed if he chose, such as Gep, Bayh, and Harman. But it's clear that they are in consideration whether we like it or not.

I didn't post other or none, because I wanted people to make there preference of the 10 people I've determined based on alot of research to be most likely in consideration.

Anybody can start another poll/
