Warning for Los Angeles shoppers?
Sorry if this is a dupe. I am not normally much of a :tinfoilhat: person, but...

Does anyone find it odd that they are issuing a warning about terrorist activity in a mall in LA today?

The same day the Junior and Cheney talk to the 911 panel? Distraction, Distraction!!!! Warning, Warning!!!!!

The "warning" is just enough to frighten people, but just vague enough to be unverifiable. No specifics, just asking people to be on the lookout for suspicious activity. Cops are on hightened alert, mall security is increased, etc.

This is supposed to occur in a mall near the federal building in the west side of LA. I've never been to LA, but I would guess it's got hundreds of malls, and that's not including the immediate suburbs, which are also close enough to LA to be scared too. If you lived in LA or nearby, would you go anywhere near a mall today? What about if you worked at a mall? Would you go in, or call off sick?

Throwing in "near the federal building" is a nice touch, no?
Can this be for real, or is Bushco really this transparent?

She's a makeup artist, working with a director on a long-term project (3 picture deal with Sony).
First I have to deal with the earthquake crap, and now this?

The huge Beverly Center is reasonably close to the federal building on the west-side.

8. There isn't a genuine mall within a couple of miles of the primary federal
building in los angeles. It houses the FBI and some immigration offices. It's on the west side, on Wilshire in Westwood, and stands alone on it's own block.

The closest mall is at least 2 miles away, being the west side pavillion on Pico Blvd, to the south.

Century City mall, an outdoor mall, and a piss-poor target for "terror" since there aren't concentrations of people, and it's at least 2 miles away, maybe more, to the east.

The Beverly Center is at least 4 miles away, east.

3rd Street Promenade is another 3 miles away, west, and is also an outdoor mall.

14. I don't think it's the Beverly Center
Beverly Center is in West Hollywood/Beverly Hills. The Federal building is way over in Westwood.

6. LOL! Terrorists don't WARN people.

They act discretely and covertly so as to maximize the damage.

7. Now I see why there were so many cops on duty last night. I noticed
on the way home a police cruiser parked VERY obviously at the Beverly Center... but it was empty.

It's all bullshit. Why bomb a mall on a weekday? MOST people are working.

9. Kick for the West Coast crowd.
And to elaborate, I just find it very suspicious that suddenly there'd be a warning, on the same day the Junior gives his "testimony". Nothing like distracting from THAT dog and pony show, right?

And in LA, which is a huge city, so they don't have to narrow it down too closely. And on the West Coast, so people will believe that we are ALL in danger, not just NY'ers or DC people. And I was amused that they said a mall in Westwood, near the federal building. Shades of Tim McVeigh!

Will there be an economic impact from this? If malls are deserted, the shopkeepers will lose income. If mall employees are too afraid to go to work, they'll lose pay. There will be increased costs for the heightened police and security people. And the list goes on.

And, as someone else pointed out, who would bomb a mall during the day, when people are in school or at work?

I would not be surprised if this was just another Bushco false alarm. And isn't that despicable?

10. From Someone Who Lives and Works in The DC Area
I live in Arlington, Va, and get to and from work on METRO -- Washington's subway system.

I work in DC -- three blocks from the Capitol.

Since 9/11/01, this city has become increasingly "fortified".

It is difficult not to think about the possiblity of a major terror attack here when you see barriers going upon monuments of anti-aricraft abtteries at the Pentagon (where I catch the subway in the morning).

My advice to anyone living in a city where there is the possibility of a terror attack:

1. Live your life. Don't cower in fear.

2. Be smart. Metro has ads and announcements which tell riders that if they see an unattended bag or back-pack to ask the people nearby, "Is that your bag?" Good advice -- and smart, too.

3. Never pass up the opportunity to communicate love to those who are near and dear to you.

I hope nothing happens in LA.

13. Most likely...
It is just their way of redirecting public attention.
They would rather not have us notice the lack of
transparency around our feckless leaders "testimony."
And you are right, we can not cower in fear.
The reality is, we are NOT safe, the funds have not
been spent to make us safe. None the less, our
lives must go on.
