since I don't think AA is on in my neck of the woods (Maryland).

Question, though: How do I get usenet on my browser? I used to go to "alt-dot" sites in an older version of Netscape. The URLs don't work with IE.

Or is there some other software necessary?

2. You will need a newsreader
and access to usenet. Some ISPs provide them free. Go into Outlook Express,click on news. You should get a box that asks if you want to download a groups list. Click OK. If it doesn't load, you will have to go through Easy News or Giganews. They are two of the best. 10 bucks a month. You can use the Outlook reader but you might want to try Free Agent or XNews. Both free.
