Did CBS News say that 4 of the 8 killed today
were supposed to have gone home within the last month, but got pulled to stay another 90+ days? That has to be sickening to the families.

10 GIs Die; Deal in Fallujah

There were 8 killed and 4 wounded, all part of a unit stationed in Germany. They were all scheduled to go back, but got extentions. Lucky them. {/sarcasm}

5. No, it's worse. All Eight. And ABC World News Tonight just repeated it.
Here's the transcript; thanks, Tivo!!

ABC's David Wright: The soldiers were searching for roadside bombs just south of Baghdad when a station wagon packed with explosives pulled up alongside them, and blew up. The eight men killed all expected to be home by now.

Their unit of the 1st Armored Division (Marines) has been in Baghdad more than a year. The Pentagon extended their tour of duty just two weeks ago.

7. CNN or MSNBC (whatever) said all 8 this morning n/t
I thought about how these guys are to stay like three more months. At that rate, they could equal the number of dead so far. Bush is in one hell of a mess.

8. OMG
He is going down, his poll numbers are tanking and there will be hell to pay. The press is turning. I know that has been said here before but as skeptical as i am I am finally begining to feel hopeful. My husband and I were talking about what the idiot might do to cancel the election and I had the most horrid thought, like maybe orchestrating another 911 so he has an excuse to bring the troops home to protect the "homeland" and then declare Marshall law and cancel the elections. Fear does stir up some strange thoughts. The * scares me.

11. "The * scares me."
that's the point.

FEAR, HATE & IGNORNANCE

is all they have.

the 'real' Bush* Trifecta

they want you too afraid to vote for anyone else, and, failing that, too afraid to vote at all.

12. Seriously
Do you really believe that? As much as I hate the BFEE and think they are VILE and EVIL, wouldn't cancelling the elections just be too....transparent??? And wouldn't we eventually have to hold them anyway?

Remember all the rumors swirling when Clinton was leaving office that he'd "have something happen" and declare martial law and the elections in 2000 wouldn't happen? I remember hearing that stuff coming from the right back then.

14. It depends on how it's orchestrated.
"FBI Reveals Terrorist Warnings to Bomb Polls"
"11 Arab Men Detained In Plot To Bomb Elections"
"Local Officials Plea For Federal Protection"
"National Guard Stretched Thin"
"72% of Americans Polled Want to Delay Election"

... and so on.

This madministration gets away with doing the outrageous and unthinkable merely because no sane person could believe it.

15. Always listen to what the BFEE accuses others of doing.
When they accuse someone of doing something bad, it means they are already doing it themselves or they are planning to do it themselves. They are so transparent.

10. I also heard just a minute ago on NBC: All 8 were supposed
to be home. Those poor families.

And Wolfowicz thinks only about 500 troops have died over there. What a worthless piece of shit.

I think we need to start an email campaign to notify Wolfy every morning how many soldiers have died in this horrible war since he can't keep up.

Soldier's death came shortly after his deployment was extended

By MAKI BECKER

New York Daily News

NEW YORK - (KRT) - Pfc. Clayton Henson was supposed to come home from Iraq on April 16.

Instead, he was killed on April 17 when his convoy was ambushed in the Iraq town of Diwaniyah.

Henson, 20, of Texas, is believed to be the first to die among 20,000 troops whose deployment in Iraq was extended this month.

"Supposedly, he was almost on the plane when they extended it for three months," said Mark Cotton, the principal at Stanton High School in Stanton, Texas.

"For him to get killed just a couple of days after that," Cotton said, his voice trailing off. "He was ready to come home. He had been there a full year."

The soldier's death has hit the close-knit Texas town of 3,000 hard.

...snip...

23. Fewer votes for Kerry?
Has it occurred to anybody but me that extending the tours of people so POed with Bush that they are certainly going to vote against him might be yet another means of messing with the election?

I'll adjust my tin foil hat now.
