Sherwood Baker's family confirms the man from Plymouth died in Iraq but the military is offering no details. Newswatch 16 learned it appears Baker was one of the Americans killed during a blast in Baghdad. Officials said troops had just stormed the warehouse when it exploded. The place was leveled, two soldiers died and others were hurt. Apparently, the building was being used by terrorists and insurgents as a storage place for munitions.
Baker was deployed with the 109th Field Artillery unit in January. He leaves behind a wife and son. Baker worked as a case worker in the Luzerne/Wyoming County Mental Health-Mental Retardation Program.
