Why is the US giving Fallujah to Saddam's ex-top military?
This is rather baffling, especially since they're the enemy.

One word sums it up.

Hell, I needn't be so confusing, one image says it so eloquently yet so distastefully:

:nuke:

Let's be prepared for the wost.

3. Because it does not matter what bush does now
We will discredit his decisions on Iraq no matter what they are. We can not give bush any quarter even if he does the right thing. If we give him any credit for any action it will harm Kerry's chances at sending him back to Crawford.

5. Uh--when has Bush* EVER done the right thing?
We aren't like freepers, we at least try to be intellectually honest. We don't criticize just to improve Kerry's chances, we criticize because Bush* is the most dishonest pResident this country has ever seen.

13. No. Bushco needs to resort to the negative campaigning
Kerry is doing just fine running on his ideas and his record.

16. The idea is to unseat Bush,
not go after his daughters. What do they have to do with anything?

And, to go back to the original subject of this thread: Iraqis, meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

7. Whoa there!
* has had some good ideas. He's just a liar when he isn't incompetent.

"No Child Left Behind" was nice.

Mary Cheney assured the GLBT population that they cared.

* called himself a compassionate conservative.

He said good things. He either never followed through or outright lied.

And for his lies, deceitful, and traitorous acts, the only acceptable solution is to kick him out of office in November.

4. Easy to figure out
why he's putting Saddam's man in there. When the press gets into Falluja, all the carnage can be blamed on him.

8. Because this is a face-saver purely for our consuption
The rest of the world knows we had been checkmated in Falluja:
Either we wipe the town out or we retreat. If we wipe the town out, the whole country of Iraq, with over 3million people would rise against the coaliton (150,000 soldiers) and we would have a repeat of the exit from Vietnam.

So, when General Saalah entered Falluja (his hometown, btw), and raised the Saddam/Iraq flag, and the people of Falluja celebrated in the streets, it's not what you think says Kimmett.

11. The ironically named Republican guard is getting the
keys because the time for a military solution has passed. If anything were to incite the beginnings of a civil war imho this would be it. The republican guard that killed shia's enmasse is back in charge of this city, i think the population in Falujah is mostly sunni but word spreads quickly there and this will make the Shia most unhappy also coupled with the photos from the prison i think that exit stage left is in phase 1.

12. He's a hired thug...
I'm sure we're paying him very well to send his men into Fallujah. You can bet that they'll be doing the dirty work of going door to door to find 'insurgents'. Think of them as a death squad.
