The Hammer Is Cracking - Poll Shows Delay Is Weak In His District
SUGARLAND, TX -- A Congressional poll shows that the continuing corruption controversies swirling around Tom DeLay have clouded the Majority leader's chances of re-election to his District 22 seat southwest of Houston.

The private poll, conducted by Harstad Strategic Research, shows DeLay's numbers as low as they have ever been since he was elected to Congress nearly 20 years ago.

According to the poll:
* Forty-eight percent of district voters rate DeLay's performance in office "fair to poor."
* Only 36 percent say they intend to vote for him in November.

"These numbers underscore what the people of the district have been telling me -- that their Congressman's arrogance and ethical lapses are becoming an embarrassment," said Richard Morrison, DeLay's Democratic challenger.

The poll was conducted among likely voters and has a margin of error of +/- 4.9 percent.

Morrison said the multiple corruption charges pending against DeLay have taken their toll. DeLay is at the center of a criminal grand jury investigation into illegal corporate campaign donations during the 2002 elections and is also a subject of inquiries into Texans for True Mobility, legislation favoring campaign contributor Bacardi-Martini Ltd., and other illegal activities.

22. I just sent him some money. A great investment, I think.
This Californian is just as anxious to see Ze Bug Man eat it as any of you are in Texas. He sours the milk for the whole dairy.

4. What is the realistic chance of DeLay losing?
I thought he was in a very safe district?

Will it be worth the Democratic Party fighting for this seat - will they put money and time into this fight?

16. Do it to force him to spend bucks there,
instead of spreading it around the country, the core of his power plan (and part of why his thing is in the courthouse wringer).

Imagine if it worked!

6. That's part of MY trifecta....
* gets thrown out on his chimpy arse in a LANDSLIDE...

Delay gets ousted...

..and Sean Insanity and Bill O'Really get caught in bed with a whacked out Lush Limballs playing the "Washington Intern" game....

Okay, so the first two might be unrealistic but a guy can hope can't he?? (;-))

I am of course joking...the second one is highly unlikely....

11. Oh Thank God! I had not dared to hope that this idiot's actions
would come back to bite him in the ass, but it seems that Texans in his district have been paying attention and will send him a message that is loud and clear. I haved a dream.... of a Democrat ion the White House, and a democrat majority in the House and Senate! Maybe then we could fix all the problems this farce of a government has started!

12. I knew the Roach was in trouble when I discovered
Juanita's blog. Read all about Delay getting laughed out of an auditorium by a bunch of schoolteachers at http://www.brazosriver.com/hammertime.htm

Some of the archives on this guy are equally hilarious! With Junita on his case, he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell!

wouldn't it be sweet if delay who expended so much energy and money not to mention the money wasted by the special sessions lost his seat. woohoo!

20. I don't - at least when you're talking about bad news for a weasel like
Tom DeLay. May he reap what he's sown. Same thing for all THINGS bush. Sorry, can't put 'em in the human category. I know it's not nice to gloat. But I'm looking forward to doing at least a tiny bit of it in November (HOPING to, anyway). And I'll probably just do it at home with my own family - all well-informed liberal Dems. However, I do know a couple of people to whom I'd LOVE to rub it in. Nasty me.
