to me, my biggest outrage is still the number of taxpayer-financed mercs in that country...I think it sets a very dangerous precedent, and the door is open for the U.S. to become more and more reliant to them for future conflicts...Maybe i was just naive, but i always thought the U.S. was 'above' using mercs for conflicts, much less pumping in 20,000 of them at a grand per day. I mean, i've gotten incredibly upset over the the WMDs, civilian deaths, the torture case, and the profiteering, etc, but lately I keep thinking more and more about the gov't-sponsored mercs...My faith in this country has been tainted in a way which will take a long time to understand.
I read somewhere that the mercs and their high-priced, no-accountable salaries account for 30 percent of the $$$ spent in Iraq..is that correct?
