At the beginning of the Iraq war, Canada said 'No Way No How' to joining up. The response was 'Fine, we don't need you anyhow, go soak your head', more or less... Then, when Canadian contracters wanted to put in bids for the rebuilding of Iraq, G-Dub said "Nope, nosiree, only coalition of the WILLING countries can do that, I gots to look out for their interests"
Now, Iraq's a little out of control... the meeting between Canadian PM Martin and G-Dub ended(?) with the Prez. asking for... gee willy, Canada's help, or "As much as Canada feels comfortable doing" (which we already told him was, absolutly nothing without UN support) In fact, Dubya was SO keen on having Canada join up, thinking it might sway some UN reps, he actually tried to BRIBE us by offering to open the boarder to our beef again!
Why thanks Georgie! Of course, even with Martin being so vauge about his 'feelings' for you (he's no Blair thats for sure), even if he loved you to bits and wished he could go on an episode of Trading Spaces with ya, it's getting near election time. And 82% of Canadian's think you stink. And I don't need a poll to tell me what Canadians think of you trying to buy our co-operation in this, erm, endevor. That would be the stupidest political move in Canadian history.
So, I guess I'm just a little confused... I thought you didn't WANT our help, or NEED our help. I thought the boarder closing was UNAVOIDABLE and there was NOTHING to be done without due proceedure. I thought everything was hunky dorey a-ok in Iraq.
Can someone set me straight?
