Resolved: That Congress should Recognize the Secessions of 1861;

that the United States would be far better off without the southern states dragging the rest of us down to their level; that the South sucks and that far too many southerners are ignorant bigots; that Texas in particular should be isolated from the world community and forced to eat dirt; and that we're pretty much sick and tired of the way that fundamentalist right-wing fascist bastards from Dixie have corrupted the public life of an otherwise (for the most part) decent and respectable nation.

...and should have let the regressive, inbred south just GO!

Slavery would have ended shortly without the Civil War, rendered unprofitable by agricultural mechanization.

The backwards south, forced to look inward, would have had to come to terms with its black population decades sooner without the migration to the north to take the pressure off Jim Crow. Possibly they'd have done a much better job of it, had the Civil War not killed off its educated class.

Who knows? In a few hundred years, once they'd forsaken all the stupidity that had held them back, we might be able to accept them into the union once again.

In the meantime, they could have elected Jesse Helms president and provided a lot of laughter all over the world, a weak, helpless nation with a puffed-up lunatic at its head.

"There are bad people everywhere." Of course there are, but the south has a wildly disproportionate number of backward bigots and morons. I was born there and I live there, and I actually love the slowness and gothic intrigue of the south, but it's chock full of monsters.

Tell me what great state you live in and I'll tell you if I think it is decent and respectable. So you propose the majority of blacks in America be kicked out, cause they live down here. Far too many non-southerners are ignorant bigots as evidenced by this very thread.
