Bush invokes Tillman as example during WH dinner
"(Bush) said the death last month of former professional football player Pat Tillman "brought home the sorrow that comes with every loss and reminds us of the character of the men and women who serve on our behalf."

The president said Tillman "was modest because he knew there were many like him making their own sacrifices."

---

You knew Tillman would suddenly be the poster boy for the "War President". Of course Tillman should be honored, but then again only yesterday the conservative movement objected to honoring 700+ other fallen heroes by name.

1. Just saw him talk about reading books

He said something like " I could tell you about some of the books that I have been reading but that would be a lie"

Lots of Laughs Out Loud

How can they stand to sit in the same room with this scum?

2. WH "Correspondents" receive big fat paychecks and are able to
buy pricey homes, extravagent wheels, send their kids to the best colleges, enjoy the most lavish accommodations at the trendiest resorts, pay retail at designer shops -- etc. etc. All they have to do in return is sell their souls and lie, lie, lie. If they all grew a conscience tomorrow, plenty more would be lined up to take their place.

I predict that when Pres. Kerry is elected come November, these same scum who've propped the chimp up for four years will begin their campaign to destroy the new president before the last vote is counted.

3. The difference between Tillman and Bush*:
Tillman turned his back on millions of dollars to serve his country in a time of war. Bush turned his back on serving his country in a time of war to (utterly fail but still manage to) make millions of dollars.

4. I thought of something
I would never knock anyone's service but I heard that they gave him a raise in rank posthumously to corporal. Now I don't know alot about the military but wouldn't that mean he was a private? When was the last time you saw a private with a college education? Thats weird. My guess is maybe discipline problems?

5. If you haven't already read it...
Be sure to read Rick Reilly's brilliant column at the end of the current issue of Sports Illustrated. He'll likely get blasted for it in the letters column in a week or two.

8. Oy!
Here's a non-subscription copy that got snagged in Google's cache:

You're right, it's a remarkably powerful column. And again, you're right, the couch-borne patriots are gonna rain troughs of shit on his head for it.

11. Wow! That is one powerful column...
It certainly appears as though the Tillman family will not be pleased with aWol*s exploitation of their dead loved one.

Thank you for the link. From the end of the article.....

<Pat Tillman and Todd Bates were athletes and soldiers. Tillman wanted to be anonymous and became the face of this war. Bates wanted to be somebody and died faceless to most of the nation.

Both did their duty for their country, but I wonder if their country did its duty for them. Tillman died in Afghanistan, a war with no end in sight and not enough troops to finish the job. Bates died in Iraq, a war that began with no just cause and continues with no just reason.

Be proud that sports produce men like this.

But I, for one, am furious that these wars keep taking them. >

...That will screw up the heads of those who believe Iraq is about "the war on terra"!

7. In Death Tillman
has become what he abhored in life, being a media poster boy. Don't tell me Fox News wasn't dying to get him on the air while he was alive. Now that he's dead anyone can stick their message into his mouth.

"(Bush) said the death last month of former professional football player Pat Tillman "brought home the sorrow that comes with every loss and reminds us of the character of the men and women who serve on our behalf."

this man died on behalf of the corporations that now extrude obscene profits from an illegal invasion..
