Watched "JFK" tonight. Thought of this quote from a 1963 Kennedy comment.
Edited on Sat May-01-04 11:21 PM by madfloridian
"The high office of the
President has been used to
foment a plot to destroy the
American's freedom, and
before I leave office I must
inform the citizen of his
plight."
____

John F. Kennedy at Columbia
University, 12th November,
1963 - 10 days before his
murder on November 22,
1963.

I have wondered if there were a connection. I have seen the movie before, but tonight it seemed especially disturbing. Too much is going on in our country to take it lightly. I know the movie is controversial, but even a part of it is hard to take. I remember that day all too clearly.
I find myself afraid for anyone who tries to speak out now in this country.

1. On the HIstory Channel, right? Just watching it now here in MDT....

These shows always spook me, esp. since the assassination is engraved in my mind....

Whenever I see clips of Kennedy...I think...he looks so...modern.
Like he could walk onto a stage today and fit right in...

3. HBO is where I watched it.
When I watched it before, I could put it in perspective. For some reason it truly bothered me tonight.

I always think of Operation Northwoods now when I think of Kennedy. I wonder if he knew what the Joint Chiefs were up to, another Pearl Harbor.

I will always wonder if there was a connection.

2. Do you have any more text, or a link for that speech? (n/t)

4. I changed the word from speech to "comment".
Because I did not not actually know it was a speech, or if made as a comment.

Many searches show links connecting it to the federal reserve, but they appear to be a little quirky. At least some of them.

You can find a whole lot by sticking the word foment in with Kennedy, etc. I would love to know the context. It was a strange and worrisome time. I can remember the Cuban missile crisis and feeling utterly fearful.

I remember my dad reassuring me. It was a scary time.

5. It doesn't appear to have been a speech ...
In a comment made to a Columbia University class on Nov. 12, 1963,

Ten days before his assassination, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy allegedly said:

"The high office of the President has been used to foment a plot to destroy the American's freedom and before I leave office, I must inform the citizen of this plight." <quote about half way down the page>
http://www.fourwinds10.com/news/05-government/A-banking-irs/2003/05A-09-19-03-JFK-vs--fed-reserve.html

Here's a list of his speeches (none for Nov @ Columbia) >>

He was the last President we had who actually spoke of Peace, rather than conquest. See commencement speech at American University, June 10, 1963 ..

7. Once you start digging around
this topic, our cultural divide glares. And, yes, danger too... >>

Conclusion
John F. Kennedy was the President who represented the curse of Abraham. He tried to bully Israel, and God made an example of him that the world will never forget. The power of the Kennedy dynasty of Joe Kennedy was symbolized by the Prostitute of Babylon, which was inevitably associated with anti-Semitism, since Satan's strategy is to destroy Israel. Lee Harvey Oswald was born October 18, 1939, Day 191, for a coup de grace. He delivered the death blow to President Kennedy on November 22, 1963, where 22 is for cursing and 63 is for an outcast. The number, 39, stands for the sin unto death. Oswald was from Louisiana, the region of Simeon criminality. He became a criminal. He went to Russia and tried to defect in 1959, where 59 is the number for Simeon and is also associated with the Cuban Revolution, which began in 1959. Oswald tried to support Castro.

Considering that the Mossad is quite possibly the most ruthless and efficient intelligence agency in the world, it is peculiar that they have never been scrutinized in relation to the Kennedy assassination, especially when practically every other entity in the world (short of Elvis impersonators) has been implicated. But that all changed in January, 1994 with the release of Michael Collins Piper's Final Judgment. In this book, Piper says, "Israel's Mossad was a primary (and critical) behind the scenes player in the conspiracy that ended the life of JFK. Through its own vast resources and through its international contacts in the intelligence community and in organized crime, Israel had the means, it had the opportunity, and it had the motive to play a major frontline role in the crime of the century - and it did."

8. There was a documentary on the History Channel last night.
Kennedy was speaking about peace. Then I do a search on this quote, and I agree. You are right. A search on that phrase shows up the divide in our country greatly. I was stunned at the some the sites and links I saw.

The Kennedy I remember was about getting things done without waging war.

I hope that documentary is on again, as I missed nearly all of it last night.

6. Who was X in the movie, played by Donald Sutherland?
His role was intense. He mentioned a CIA operation at the Univ.of Miami, something to do with the Cubans. I could not catch it all.

9. Based on Col. Fletcher Prouty.
Edited on Sun May-02-04 02:33 PM by Minstrel Boy
Col. Prouty spent 9 of his 23 year military career in the Pentagon (1955-1964): 2 years with the Secretary of Defense, 2 years with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and 5 years with Headquarters, U.S. Air Force. In 1955 he was appointed the first "Focal Point" officer between the CIA and the Air Force for Clandestine Operations per National Security Council Directive 5412. He was Briefing Officer for the Secretary of Defense (1960-1961), and for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

At times he would be called to meet with Allen Dulles and John Foster Dulles at their home on highly classified business. He was assigned to attend MKULTRA meetings. In this capacity Col. Prouty would be at the nerve center of the Military-Industrial Complex at a time unequalled in American History. He has written on these subjects, about the JFK assassination, the Cold War period, and Vietnamese warfare, and the existence of a "Secret Team". He backs up his his work with seldom seen or mentioned official documents - some never before released.

Fletcher Prouty offers a rare glimpse of the "Power Elite" as described by Buckminster Fuller, or "The High Cabal" as Winston Churchill refered to them; and how they really operate. Those who have not been in a position to witness events such as these from the inside would not understand how invisible but ultimately effective they and their power structures are.

10. Saw it on the history channel last night
and thought it was a fairly balanced story. Much about JFK's drugs, painkillers, and amphetamines, as well as his affairs. There was speculation about whether the scandal would have blown wide open in his second term. Also the power that J. Edgar Hoover had over all the presidents (reminded me of George Tenet for some reason). They did the Bay of Pigs--with no mention of the role of George HW Bush, of course--and did not mention Operation Northwoods, but did show Kennedy taking responsibility...SIGH!...They had interviews with civil rights activists who acknowledged the Kennedy was a reluctant supporter, but that he did make excellent speeches and made some progress...Excellent speeches! Has there been another president besides Lincoln who is so often quoted or as inspirational?

I was only nine years old during the Cuban missile crisis, but I do remember the fear in the air. Kennedy LEARNED from the Bay of Pigs not to trust the brass entirely. Learning, what a concept.

It was hard to watch the history, the Berlin speech and the cheering crowds (even on replay decades later--crowds gathered in Berlin to watch the screen). The feeling of hope in the midst of crisis, the Peace Corps, the space program...it all made me very, very sad.

11. The Berlin speech.
Wow. What a beautiful thing that was! I was older than you, and I remember it with such a sadness. It was about what we could have been as a country...Look at us now.

We have a man leading us who is like a mopaul puppet, or a mopaul roach running from the whitehouse.

After watching JFK, then seeing part of this at the History Channel, I just felt robbed.
