"Saddam had trouble with Fallujah?" WTF?
I thought that Saddam was evil incarnate and that he was in control of everything in Iraq...that's why we had to get rid of him.

Folks, the truth is that Saddam had little control over the vast majority of Iraqis over the past 20 years. The US controlled 2/3 of the Iraqi airspace, the Kurds controlled the north, the US controlled the south and Saddam had Baghdad. Our special ops have been operating at will inside of Iraq since 1991 and most of what went on in Iraq we knew about, instigated, or allowed to happen by looking the other way. Saddam was a weakened, dillusional dictator not even in control of most of his own military..and proof of this is how many top Iraqi officials were working with the US to get rid of Saddam.

With Saddam in our hands, the violence, and destruction of Iraq has only gotten worse. Iraq is merely a convenient launching pad for US empire over the ME. Notice we would never tackle a well armed, well organized, real threatening nation like Iran, Syria, N. Korea. We knew after years of bombing, and special operations that Iraq was a straw tiger...and we still have failed to achieve what we set out to do. That's because we didn't factor in the Iraqi people and what our humilation and disrespecting of their culture would mean. In short, we are chocking on a knat!

2. Bill Maher referred to him as "the mayor of Baghdad"
during the run-up to the war, highlighting how harmless he was to the US....

3. Higher threshold of violence abandoned
...for now along with Fallujah and probably Najaf. How long will we sustain the "lower" level with Americans and foreignors being slaughtered every day?

One year, five years, ten years?

5. we are cultural illiterates
"That's because we didn't factor in the Iraqi people and what our humilation and disrespecting of their culture would mean."
Exactly.
In the build up to the war, there was nothing, nothing about who are the Iraqis? What is their history? What is their culture? Nothing. Most couldn't even find it on a map. The first weeks of "war coverage" they didn't even bother to interview an Iraqi. I would scream at the T.V. with the embed's to at least interview ONE Iraqi to tell us how they feel. Nothing.
