So the first time the Halliburton contractor was released...er a escaped...
...he ran the wrong way out into the desert and ran out of water and had to go back to his captors to get something to drink. This time he had to chase a US convoy on foot for a half a mile before they stopped and picked him up. It looks like the Iraqis were having a hard time giving him back. They must have had to give him a compass the second time he "escaped" or something? WTF? MSNBC just broke in to their regular programming to say this.

9. Don't you mean The Office of Strategic Influence/OSI?
That is the agency that was going to use the world's media to plant false stories in the war on terrorism, the last story from The Office of Strategic Influence was that it never opened.

10. Yes they reported this and one of the demands the Iraqis were making...
...for his release was for the US to leave Falluja. The US left Falluja and low and behold the contractor escaped shortly there after. Whodathunk?

6. NBC nightly
mentioned something about 2 days in the desert until he ran out of water. many failed attempts at flagging down US troops. they had a whole setup where they had his wife on camera when she made first contact with him , looked real staged.

13. Because Viet Nam taught us . . .
that war can lead to lots of ugly and big conspiracies and the best way to avoid that is to be vigilant and open about these conspiracies.

I don't think that discussion of the suspicious circumstances here undercuts the fact that we are all glad the guy is alright and coming home.

17. well, we haven't had a My Lai yet
this time around (at least that we know of). That is some progress.

Of course, we still have a lot more to learn, and threads like this one help to that end.

What a coincidence.
