My prediction --- a Bush decline....

As soon as Kerry picks a running mate (which should be either Edwards or Clark, imo), his ratings are going to start a definite, steady climb over Bush.

If Kerry can get someone who inspires confidence and charisma, Bush is really in trouble!!!!

Unless Jeb&CO help him out again in Nov., of course.

2. Why not Dean?
He seemed to be popular at one time...

I'm against Clark these days, there was something he said I totally disagreed with... something to do with Iraq...

4. ..what would he bring??

..I don't know. I like Dean, but I don't see that he would be a good vp pick.

3. There are a number of factors for a Bush decline
Kerry having a running mate will be helpful in that someone else will be able to take point on some issues.

However, there are a number of factors indicating that Bush is in decline already. First, the war in Iraq is not going well. Second the economy is not generating jobs but is doing well enough that the Fed is going to have to raise interest rates. Third, the number of leaks or disclosures will likely continue. There has to be a cumulative effect of all of this bad news on Bush's ratings.

5. ..and the gas prices.

...unless he gets it on with his Baudie Ababia (phrase Randi Rhodes uses) buddies, and they lower it for him.

6. I Don't See A Bush Decline
I think that the country is so hard core right now between Democrats and Republicans, that the race will stay pretty even until the undecided voters break before the election. The latest Rasmussen poll has it at 45%-45% and I think that it will stay pretty close to that until after the debates.

7. I hope Kerry chooses a running mate . . .
who is politically to the left of him. I think a centrist vice president would be a bad influence on Kerry politically and would also be indicative that Kerry plans to govern as a centrist.
