Frank Luntz say's Kerry ads are great and Bush ads stink
When TV Spots Beat The Real Deal
Here's an idea from one of TV's political ad-rating gurus to help Sen. John Kerry out of his slump: Stop making live appearances and rely just on those great television spots. And President Bush, adds Frank Luntz ,do the opposite because your ads mostly stink. "Kerry's sound bites resonate with everyone,"said Luntz, explaining what his MSNBC focus groups have told him. But, he added, "the candidate is hopelessly flawed." Luntz just tested Kerry and Bush ads and found Kerry's about perfect. "Kerry," he told Whispers, "currently has the television ad edge."Viewers even liked how he tied in the clunky "I approved" line with a hit on the prez. Swing voters especially like Kerry's ads. But Luntz says Kerry himself is a chore to listen to. Over to Bush: His best ad challenged Kerry on his defense votes. But if you add to the mediocre ads the GOP's constant nicking at Kerry's credibility and the Democrat's scramble to protect it, then Luntz gives the overall edge to Bush. "It's like a bullfight," he says. "With every step, the bull fights harder and harder but gets weaker and weaker."

1. mole alert
Luntz is a GOP hack. If he is really telling Bush to appear more in public, he's also insane.

3. That's the best kind isn't it?
Lets hope * takes him up on it, that last press conference was the funniest thing I've seen in weeks.

8. He's also a shameless partisan. No wonder he gives the edge
to bush. OF COURSE he's gonna give the edge to bush. People like him LIVE to give the edge to bush. And have made a good living at it, too.

2. so everything he found from his focus group was pro-kerry
yet he felt compelled to throw that "the candidate is hopelessly flawed."

and just what is he basing that sterling piece of highly researched reasoning on?

why, the latest fax from gop headquarters, of course!

4. A "hopelessly flawed" candidate isn't the same
as a "hopelessly flawed" person, is it Mr. Luntz? Bill Maher nailed it the other day on Hardball when he said *'s "success" was due to "great marketing and a stupid public." (paraphrasing).

5. Kerry is an outstanding public speaker....and his band of brothers
always shows up...and sometimes, another long lost Vietnam Veteran appears....

Kerry's best asset is his public appearances...very Presidential....
glad to hear that Kerry's TV ads are a big hit too....go Kerry....help us take back America

bush* cannot speak publically at all...
bush* should make MORE live appearances to emphasize bush* inability to pronounce simple English words...that's a GREAT idea...thanks Frank...remind bush* a lot to get out there and pronounce words and do more press conferences and spontaneous speaking events....

6. Luntz's toupee must be pressing on his brain!
He says "Kerry himself is a chore to listen to."....Is he seriously suggesting Bush's incoherent rambling is music to the ears?...This guy, who I first saw on CNN being called a Republican polster and now calls himself a political ad-rating guru, is about as non-partisan as Karl Rove.....He's a part of the Republican plan to paint Kerry as a dull, boring, uninteresting person, just as they did Gore in 2000.

7. just heard on cable. . .
forget where, 'cause I was channel surfing waiting for the rerun of Joe Wilson's interview on MTP. . .and heard that John Kerry was going to spend 25-35 million on ads this month. My visceral and frugal Yankee response was, "save it for the fall, John. Bush is hanging himself."

I hope upon hope.

9. I smell a BIG RAT here.
Luntz is total GOP. I don't trust anything he says! If he is giving a compliment to Kerry, I'd be looking for the hidden adgenda. I feels like Bush sayding, but I really like Clinton.........something is wrong with the Luntz assessment.
