Is ClearChannel Talk Radio Promoting a "Support the Troops" Rally
Edited on Mon May-03-04 09:52 AM by anarchy1999
in your city? Big event being promoted in Dallas, on the 15th of May, is it happening anyplace else? Just curious, if they are doing it in Dallas, they must be doing this in other cities. Am I right?

On Edit:

The question is, Is a rally being sponsered by ClearChannel anyplace else on May the 15th, which also happens to be Armed Forces Day? Have any DU'ers heard of one. I know it requires checking in at one of their stations (hard to do, but necessary sometimes). ClearChannel has done nationwide events in the past, I have a few ideas for this one, especially if it is happening in more than one city.

1. "Clear" Channel likes to muddy the waters...

...all of its "support the troops" rallies are actually "support the pResident" rallies, all flag waving but nothing for the actual troops. But that would be less popular, so they shovel out the horsesh** and let the rising steam cloud the issue.

Humvees, no calls for the troops to come home, no criticism that some troops will now have had 13 months on MRE's(thanks Halliburton), no care packages for troops, NO ENLISTMENT BOOTHS...

YEAH, FLAG WAVE, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS...:puke:

5. I propose a "Save the Troops" movement.
We all support our troops for chrissake! We (DU) just think the best way to support them is to get them out of harm's way, get them away from where they may be subjected the psychological damage of being tortured or becoming a torturer. The CC folks don't support the troops, they support the WAR. Why can't they come right out and say that?

Unfortunately we can't use phrase "Support the troops" to describe our position. Let's claim some language for ourselves!!!

"SAVE THE TROOPS!!"

8. stay away from any Clear Channel events
As stated above, their definition of "support the troops" is showing nothing but love for 'W'. Remember this is the company that banned the Dixie Chicks when they spoke out against Bush II.

9. I think it's a good idea
Edited on Mon May-03-04 10:30 AM by rocknation
I think you should go and support the troops by protesting their being ill-equipped, underfed, overworked, having their benefits cut, and earning a fraction of what the mercenaries are. We can support the troops without supporting the war or Bush. Trent Lott told us so!

11. That is the plan -----
Edited on Mon May-03-04 10:40 AM by anarchy1999
Needing more input from other areas of the country. Is ClearChannel making this a nationwide event? Does anyone know?

Not a Protest! A table taking donations, sharing info and taking items to send to our troops. We can support our troops, we want them home. They are not being taken care of. Why with all the billions being spent are we having to have drives to send stuff? It just boggles the mind. Peacekeepers support the troops as well, including Veterans For Peace!
