Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Got a mailing from DSCC today and would like to make a donation. Any one here have any negative feedback on this organization? We need to hold on to at least one of the two houses, is this the way to do it?

1. personally I would rather give to MoveOn

or someother activist group that has the guts to tell the truth
rather than the half-hearted efforts by people like Daschle etc.

2. I have donated to my Sen Boxer directly
because you have no idea how they will spend or who the will support. The DCCC deserted our local candidate last time- without a cent; cause they gave up without a fight. I suspect the DSCC is similar.

3. John Corzine is heading this
& I hear he is working his heart out.

He was head of Goldman Sachs, so has many connections; I read he is getting money from old Republican friends.

Also, he has gout or something, so he is on crutches moving around the country.

12. It's Corzine and Murray
Though Murray has stepped aside for her re-election, she's still involved and will take back over when Murray is re-elected.

4. Just curious - why did you ask for negative feedback only?
Seems as though I'd be looking *for* reasons to donate to an organization rather than looking for reasons *not* to.

5. Why
Because this is the first time I have gotten correspondence from this org. And I am not sure they are even legitimate, if they are not I'm pretty certain this is the place to find out!!! :)

And as you are probably aware you'll always hear bad news or negative experiences about some one or something before you will hear anything good, just human nature ,I guess? And as another poster had said they would rather give to MoveOn.

6. True.
You're right - negative feedback is usually much easier to obtain than positive feedback. Point taken.

It's also much more likely to be specific, rather than general, i.e. "they're a good organization" vs. "they kill kittens on TV".

7. Donate to 21st Century Democrats
Or Democracy for America if you want your money to go to worthwhile candidates.

Or, you could donate to Dennis Kucinich still!

8. Or Donate to Emily's List Senate Candidates
They do a great job of picking candidates that can win a particular race. Then they do a great job helping the candidate, staff, etc. with information and training.

Nearly all Emily's List candidates that I have contributed to have won.

And, it gets more progressive women in office!

11. This time around, DSCC is better than DCCC
Edited on Mon May-03-04 09:56 PM by sgr2
We have open seat races in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma, Colorado, and North Carolina as well as close races in Alaska, Illinois, and possibly Kentucky.

So if you're worried about taking a house back in Congress, DSCC is a good bet. The House isn't possible until 2006, but who knows, Pelosi has really proven herself as a fundraiser.
