The Army isn't about to stop the torture. Torture and Occupation...
go together.

The Resistance's main tools are guerrilla tactics and blending back into the population.

The Occupiers main tools are torture and disproportionate retribution.

Anyone who thinks that a polite occupation is possible now is fooling themselves.

1. You can bet that the taking of photos of...
...torture and disproportionate retribution will stop though. Big, big cover-up is probably been going on for months. The pause over Falluga may not be so much a cease fire, but the marking of time while evidence of other abuses is destroyed. The U.N. needs to be brought in to monitor the U.S. occupation.

4. That's why the press was kicked out of Falluja... It had nothing to..
do with the "safety of the reporters". I would be surprised if they didn't use "hang the rebels in public view" tactics.

Hitler's order to occupy France was evil. Nazi occupation tactics were par-for-the-course for unwanted foreign occupiers.

2. Of course the army condones torture. They teach it at the School of the
Americas in spite of their name change. There's no shortage of despots on the planet that learned their tricks courtesy of US taxpayers.

5. Didn't the French have a pretty grim history of this kind of thing in
Algeria? Did it ever become known while that struggle was going on, and did it affect public opinion there on trying to keep up the colony?

6. The Germans, the French, the British, the Russians, ...there's a reason...
occupation has a bad name. Looking down the road 3-5 years, assuming genocide is out of the question, it's simply a question of how radical a theocracy we want in Iraq.
