Newsnight: Fallujah Insurgents Organized, Sophisticated

Aaron Brown was interviewing a reporter in Iraq, specifically in Fallujah. Journalist in Fallujah basically reported that the Iraqi resistance there acted in coordinated, integrated ways. Said the troops said as soon as they moved, the enemy knew it. The resistance fighters did employ at a minimum, some sophisticated tactics such as cross-fire zones and different maneuvers based on where our guys moved.

The reason for posting this is during the Fallujah Battle, people who posted stuff from Islamic news sites, which said basically the same thing as the reporter on newnight just said, were ridiculed by some as being preposterous. I would say our ignominious retreat says otherwise. The resistance in Fallujah was organized, used intelligance on troop movements to plan ambushes, and coordinated attacks for maximum effectiveness - our guys basically admitted it. So, to all you out there who said it was impossible that the insurgents had any degree of organization, CNN just refuted you. Not some Islamic website. Or do you need to hear it on Faux news?

The Islamic sites do seem quite as prone to exaggeration
in the spirit of keeping the fans feeling positive as the
US media, but that just means they both lie.

You've gotta see the shades of gray. Our news orgs are just as prone to propagandizing as the Islamic ones - but there is usually a kernel of truth in there somewhere. I didn't take the reports at face value but the continuing escalation on our part, combined with heavy losses, told me there was an element of truth to them.

They can both be full of shit.
Occasionally, they are both righteous.
That's always nice when it happens.

weren't supposed to be able to resist the mighty US military, either, but they doled out ten years and 50,000 dead soldiers' worth of resistance. This time around, the troops were supposed to kick Saddam's ass, take Iraq's gas, and be home within four months. Why is it that because they're not white, the US assumes they're as dangerous as smurfs?
