Help- Need 3-5 eye-opening links!!
Here's the story: I have a friend who's politically ignorant. I've slowly been opening her up to paying attention, starting with the BBV stuff. She's never voted, felt that Bush v. Gore was a "choice between getting shot or stabbed", but admits she's just repeating crap she heard on tv at the time. She's not stupid, just ignorant. So... I want to convince her to vote Dem, instead of not voting. She asked me to email her a few sites to help her start learning. So... what 3-5 sites should I pick? I don't think PNAC, etc., is good, because she wouldn't understand the implications yet. I'm going to start with www.JohnKerry.com, for sure, but not sure what else to add. Suggestions, oh wise and knowledgeable DU community?

Find out why his show is ending this year, he's dangerous:

That should work, if not go to

and search for 'Bill Moyers keynote' and LISTEN!

18. That is what I was going to say!
I referred some people to that website after I first saw it and after watching the videos there, they loosened up enough for me to go into details about the issues. I'd say this is the best site for getting them good and emotional so that you can work on explaining to them why they should get out and vote!

14. Definitely Buzzflash
It will quickly give her an idea of what is going on in the world that she's not being told, and in a very quick and simple way.

Blogs are tough because it's kind of like coming into a story in the middle - it can be confusing until you understand who's who and what's going on.

http://www.truthout.org and http://www.commondreams.org are good places for editorials that don't require extensive background.

We tend to forget that not everybody knows as much as people on DU know - it's like understanding calculus, but you have to start with basic math first.

16. Thanks for all the input!
Bet I'll learn something in the process, as well!

Of course, I will be pointing her at DU. But DU is probably a bit confusing if you don't know anything about politics, at all. I mean, if you don't know who the major players even are, politically, it's hard to understand a lot of what goes on here...BTDT. I guess I just wanted to start with why we need to get Bush&Co out, as much as Kerry in. A lot of those, I'm sure, will give loads of info about that. Heck, maybe I'll just send her all of them :D Nah, that'd be over the top, but you better believe I'm saving this thread to send her more when she comes looking!

Thanks all!
