Al Franken most likely running for Senate
Franken says he's more likely than not to run for U.S. Senate in '08

http://www.duluthsuperior.com/mld/duluthsuperior/8573958.htm
Comedian and liberal talk show host Al Franken put the odds of a challenge against Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., in 2008 at better than 50-50, and said he would make a decision by late next year.

1. Does this mean AAR is doomed?
Seriously, if he is thinking about running for senate, he can't be thinking about his radio station. This makes me wonder if the finances at AAR are much worse than what we know.

2. nonsense
The election is four years away. AAR isn't likely to fold because of this.

I doubt it.
He has been thinking about this for a long time - well before AAR got off the ground. But note that this is 4 years away, plenty of time for AAR to mature before Franken would need to take a hiatus to run.

3. IMO it could save it
Get Franken off after November and maybe put someone who isn't so annoying on. I love Franken, but I hate listening to him.

4. I doubt it...
I see Franken as the "bait" to get folks to listen to AAR. He has much more name recognition than any of the other hosts.

I don't think he sees AAR as a new career...so he may well leave once the AAR gets some legs...

But as far as I'm concerned he can just "SHUT UP!" about running for Senate until early 2007...

5. he would be good in Wellstone's seat
And, yes, its Wellstone's seat. Because everyone knows that motherfucking Norm Coleman is a slimy asshole who wouldn't be in the Senate if Wellstone hadn't been killed.

8. I hope not
I sure hope Franken doesn't run. I don't think he could win against the republican slimeball. I think if Paul Wellstone's son David were to run it would be a Democratic slam-dunk.

9. I think..

his talent is best used where he is right now, not locked up in Congress with a 100 other bought out politicians.

Although its a great idea to put out there, like Howard Stern has not said something like this before.

Stern for Congress!
