WW2 vet turned away from Bush event in Iowa
This isn't quite LBN-worthy, but pretty disgusting nonetheless. Sorry for the long clips.

From today's Telegraph-Herald, Dubuque IA:

Some people waited two hours Monday for a ticket to see President Bush on Friday at Dubuque's Grand River Center. They will have to awaken early Friday to get in the door at 6:30 a.m.

<snip>

At least one person who said he waited patiently in line came away empty handed.

Bill Ward, of Dubuque, said he arrived at about 7:30 a.m., and waited an hour. When it came time to show his identification, Ward said he was asked if he supported Bush in 2000.

"I said I didn't vote for him then and I won't vote for him now," Ward said.

Saying he is a World War II veteran who served in Germany and France, Ward is strongly critical of the war in Iraq.

'The only thing I wanted to do was get down to the riverfront and ask Bush some questions," he said.

Ward's lack of support for the president apparently was his undoing.

"They asked some girl to escort me out and I told them I don't need to be escorted out," Wards said. "I'm a veteran of World War II."

18. No shit. How right you are.
The right wingers in my office are still yacking about Kerry's SUV flap. I can guarantee you it will continue right up til the election. Like Al Gore and the internet. And it won't be their fault entirely. Rush Lameballs, Michael Weiner, and the echo-chamber will be repeating it every day.

6. Iowans will not take kindly this.
As a state that prides itself as a primary state they WANT and EXPECT all candidates to take ALL questions from all points of view.

9. Wait till the Party rally in NYC
You want to protest shrub?

Fine, the republicans will place you and your group MILES away from the rally in a holding pen where you can protest your hearts out. Dog forbid Shrub having even a hint of someone protesting his policies. Protesters are NEVER EVER allowed anywhere NEAR where shrub will be speaking, only in small "protest pens" that are away from the speech.

The party rally will be just as staged as those in Nuremberg.

11. John Kerry stopped and wrote a long 'thank-you' note to my uncle
at the Virginia Rally (the night Kerry won Virginia in the primaries)...I stopped Kerry as he left the stage and asked him for his signature to give to my uncle, a Korean War Veteran with shrapnel still in his leg....there were LOTS of people around, and movement to get Kerry out of the auditorium...but when I said 'Veteran', Kerry stopped and told everyone to wait...then he wrote a very nice note thanking my uncle....

that's the difference between Kerry and the shrub who shoves Veterans out of his way....and it's a BIG difference...a real BIG difference...

President Kerry will take care of OUR Veterans, because they deserve OUR respect...

come and help us take back America...help Kerry win...just push this link and look at all the ways that you can make that little effort...just a tiny effort on YOUR part will make all the difference....

16. I went to see John Kerry in Atlanta - no ID, no questions
I stood in line for about an hour, walked through the metal detector, and I was in. There was no free speech zone (no protestors either). Bushco press events are nothing more than dog and pony shows.

On Edit: Im talkign about what the Bush Events are like.

I was there just to take a few pictures after school. I had a phone thrown at me by a bush supporter as I tried to take a picture of part of thier group.

When I tried to leave the protest area to head back to my car, 2 officers yelled out at me to get back to the area(one officer had his hand on his gun while pointing at me yelling to get back)

Finally the one let me and a friend along with another lady and said we had "A three minute window" to leave and to get out quickly or we would be locked down. Mayve he heard me say that this was like living in Nazi-fied America when I was yelled at, I don't know. My friend and the other lady walked off pretty quick, she was just thier taking pictures too......

one thing I did notice that all the people holding bush signs were almost all dressed alike. Guys in White Shirts brown pants and dress shoes with megaphones and a flag, girls in dresses and hair pulled back.

12. Obviously this guy is unAmerican.
Since since he doesn't side with Bush, he must side with the terrorists.

13. I mean Bush did say you are either with us or with the terrorists
He just didn't explain that the us was Bush & Co and not America.

How dare someone serve their country and then not back the great leader.

OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!

She was calling for people to come and protest the repug convention last night. Thought she might give this some air play. We'll see.
