Ex-Hostage On The Mend

Thomas Hamill Awaits Reunion With His Wife

LANDSTUHL, Germany (CBS) Thomas Hamill, the 43-year-old truck driver who escaped from his Iraqi militant captors over the weekend, was taken Monday to the U.S. military's Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for treatment and a reunion with his wife, Kellie, expected on Tuesday. snip

Hamill got a visit from celebrity governor Arnold Schwazenegger, who was in Germany visiting wounded soldiers at the base hospital.

The two met for about five minutes in a hospital room. Schwarzenegger said Hamill requested the meeting after learning that the governor was visiting wounded troops. snip

The door to Hamill's room was a piece of sheet metal propped up by a board. Hamill, of Macon, Miss., told soldiers he believed a single guard was nearby, but out of sight. snip

The Mississippi man told soldiers he'd been well treated by his captors, who gave him a rudimentary medical kit, a box of cookies and an oil lamp. snip

"He escaped one time about three days earlier and he was out in the middle of the desert. A helicopter came over and he tried to flag it down, but they evidently didn't see him," Higginbotham said. "They were taking fairly good care of him, so he went and put himself back in captivity without them knowing."

2. all the hamill stories are totally spun....not sure at all what the REAL
story is....but certain it won't look good for the shrub's GLORIOUS and GREAT STUPID WAR....

as noted several days ago....bush* minions shut hamill's wife up real quick...got her OUT OF AMERICA and under the complete control of the U.S. Military in a foreign country...good move by bush* PR spinnners....the wife was mouthing off way to much to the American press....now she's under control....

6. it was hamill's wife that let the cat out of the bag before the bush*
PR minions could spin the GLORIOUS-private-lynch-style story...

as soon as the wife talked to Hamill on the phone....she spouted off that Hamill pushed a door open, excaped, ran a MILE down the road in front (no trees, and armed Iraqis hostage-takers watching?)....then he was 'waving his arms' to the convoy and screaming that he was an American.... don't shoot...

next, the U.S. Military said NO, that's not what happened....that they quickly found Iraqis with GUNS in the house, that Hamill was badly injured by those damn Iraqis (SHOT in the arm)....that he simply escaped outside as the convoy was passing by...and the convoy took immediate action to rescue him....

DUers speculated that Hamill had just skipped out of his job and that the real story was a prostitute and liquor and a vacation with his BIG money....

I speculated that the wife would soon be SHUT UP in some way by the bush* big spin machine, which seems to be exactly what happened...she's been flown to a U.S. MILITARY BASE in a foreign country while that damn bush* PR machine spins this under a more controlled environment....expect the happy couple to return briefly to their home in Mississippi for the glorious bush* GREAT STUPID WAR hero parade soon...a patriotic parade for a mercenary, it doesn't get much better than that...then away for more recouperation on a remote cruise or something....

5. Maybe i have a sick sense of humor
but this is pretty funny.

7. another bush* "Great STUPID war' major events, where even
mercenaries come home to a hero's parade....

it could well be correct that that old mississippi truck driver had a woman/drugs/booze and was just taking a LONGGG break to spend all his hard-earned war-bounty....
