How should Kerry deal with the Iraqi prison abuse?
Edited on Tue May-04-04 11:50 PM by countmyvote4real
My first impressions of him tell me that he will simply condemn it and drone on to something else from his “book of drone hot points.” That’s ironic alone, but it does speak to my impression of him that since he became the presumptive nominee, he chooses his words very carefully and will drone and moan them to no end.

Okay. I have a problem with his speaking style. I can get over it when I consider that the alternative is the selected boor that currently occupies the WH.

Anyway, I think Kerry’s history as a Vietnam War vet that witnessed and spoke out against atrocities committed by American troops puts him in a unique position to humanize and castigate these “recent” reports from the US occupation of Iraq. He passionately spoke to it after his service in Vietnam. He should do it again. And this time he should focus on the lack of leadership and misdirection and the lies that led up to the invasion and still manage to defend the troops that committed these atrocities. After all, he ought to know.

This is an opportunity from Fate to counter the bogus ribbon/medal toss media blitz from last week. Then again, who knows what will happen in the next installment of boor vs. bore.

So what does DU think?

2. Here is what bush should do
Force the resignation of General Myers, and Gen. John Abizaid

Last weekend Myers was on all the talk shows asked about the abuse, and all he could say was that he did not read the reports. If that does not show incompentence, I do not know what will

If we do not force those resignations, and do it quickly, any possible support of the Iraqi people for us will be lost

Incidently, I do not think bush will do that...

3. You are nice,
Apart of those, Lt General Ricardo Sanches, In theater commander.

Of course Karpinsky,

Did I forget to mention a very open War Crimes Tribunal in the US? Where all civilian and military leaders responsible for this should face the music?

Oh I am dreaming of course

There is no moral clarity for Bush.

5. I don't think he should blame the troops....
Because the Bush crowd would say that he also blamed the troops during VietNam War.... He needs a very diplomatic response, in my opinion.

6. Hell no, the troops are threatened if they don't comply.
The Media is filling us with Whitehouse bullshit. Our troops are coerced in to this, if they do not comply, they get fragged. The mind torture and mass manipulation would turn anyone in to a laughing torturer. We've seen psych study after study proving this. Blame here lies at the top. Not at the bottom, Don't be fooled by these fuckers.
