Another kicked media blitz, please, appreciating Olbermann and others...
Edited on Wed May-05-04 09:51 AM by DeepModem Mom
who show courage in the face of what is now becoming a clearer picture of White House intimidation of our free press. PLEASE CONTACT MEDIA AND KEEP THIS KICKED.

MSNBC contacts: viewerservices@msnbc.com, countdown@msnbc.com (Olbermann); MSNBC phone, ask for viewer comment line, 201-583-5000

Thanks to Volcano Jen, we have the words Olbermann used last night with Joe Wilson, regarding three emails sent to him and his producers from the WH:

OLBERMANN: You do know that they're still going after you, right? We promoted the fact that you'd be on this show tonight. (He holds up a few papers, the top one looks like an email, but you can't make out who it's from, no logo or anything.) Today we received three seperate copies of the same email with talking points, from the White House, one asking a contact here, "Can you please get this to the Olbermann people?" They misspelled my name, by the way, but that's neither here nor there. (Screen graphic appears of the following words, titled "EMAIL FROM THE WHITE HOUSE") Another one asks one of our producers, "I UNDERSTAND YOU ALL HAVE MR. WILSON ON THIS EVENING. CAN YOU PLS (SIC) CALL ME ON THIS?"

Add to this Joe Wilson's words to Tim Russert on "Meet the Press," and we begin to get an idea of how courageous the few in the press are who stand up in the face of White House intimidation:

MR. RUSSERT: Now, you've asked Bob Novak to reveal his sources. Would you reveal your sources?

AMB. WILSON: Actually, I haven't asked Bob Novak to reveal his sources. And I think you can understand after you interviewed Mr. Woodward last week that when 75 people speak to Mr. Woodward with the authorization of the president and only two of them want to be identified, you can imagine that those who have other information but are FEARFUL OF WHAT THE WHITE HOUSE MIGHT DO, they also do not want to be identified. And I say that because, of course, I mention in the book that there are also reports from journalists back to me that THEY'RE FEARFUL OF WRITING THESE STORIES. One journalist said because he was afraid he would end up in Guantanamo, which is basically I think a metaphor for their being cut off. Another one said that, of course, they had two children in private schools and a mortgage. Now, I've since heard from other journalists that EVEN THE MOST MILDLY CRITICAL ARTICLES ABOUT THIS ADMINISTRATION YIELD TOP-LEVEL PHONE CALLS back to their editors including phone calls from Mr. Libby himself to their editors.

Please contact MSNBC with appreciation for Olbermann, and I would suggest contacting CNN with praise for Aaron Brown and Lou Dobbs, CBS for "Sixty Minutes," ABC for "Nightline," and possibly even Matthews at MSNBC. Please add other suggestions, including from the print press. We will not find perfect newspeople in the "mainstream" press, but I think those who show a willingness to stand up to WH intimidation at risk to their careers deserve our support and praise.

Finally I am adding a link to Calimary's media list:

but missed it :pout:

I saw the DU thread -- I'm so damn proud of Olberman.

He's a hottie, too.

2. In addition to writing emails
another thing we should do is WATCH. Increase the ratings of those that have integrity to stand up to the White House Mafia.

The media is only going to do what's good for them. If they see that people respect those with integrity and ratings increase, more will come out.

When Olbermann is on, watch him and no one else. Tell everyone you know how great Olbermann is. :toast:

4. Thanks for this post...I feel it's just as important to show appreciation
for good media coverage as it is to blast them for not reporting the truth. We certainly need to let them know when they do a good job....actually being journalist as opposed to spin masters.
