Clear Channel's CEO had brain surgery last week...
According to a wire report I came across May 5, Clear Channel CEO Lowry Mays underwent brain surgery after experiencing numbness on his left side.

Normally, I'd have sympathy for someone undergoing such an ordeal. But Mays' company has probably done more to dumb down this country than any single entity anywhere, with their oversaturation of right-wing, Republican ass-kissing talk shows. Not to mention the cookie-cutter personalities that virtually every market in the country now has to put up with. There's very little, if any, local identity with radio stations anymore, because all of the CC stations have to give you that same old menu of neo-con ideology 24/7.

Clear Channel has done more to ruin U.S. radio than anything I can imagine.

BTW, wasn't Mays a former partner with Dubya when they owned the Texas Rangers baseball franchise?

7. I think it was Tom Hicks who bought the Rangers from...
... Dubya's partnership:

But Mays is a long-time supporter of and contributor to Bush.

12. That Was The Sinclair CEO
Forgot the dude's name...someone posted the story of him getting pinched in a company car with a prostitute...LOL. Gotta love those family values. I could just hear it now. "Honestly, officer, I was sitting here and she just knocked on the car window all naked and stuff"...hell, it worked for Neil Bush.

11. That Was Tom Hicks
Hicks-Tate-Muse...the other part of the Clear Channel monster.

I agree, Loewry Mayes relishes in the monopolization and dumbing down of radio operations for his own greed and power. He's ruined a lot of careers in recent years. May he feel just a sliver of the pains he's inflicted on others. The Kharma train is a comin'.

14. Remember this famous headline?
“X-Rays of Dean’s Head Reveal Nothing.”

The classic case of a time when it did happen was in a World Series game when Dizzy Dean came running into second base standing up. The shortstop had no trouble pulling the trigger and beaned Dean right in the noggin.

Ole Diz was knocked unconscious and taken to the hospital. He woke up later with only a headache, and a newspaper carried the story with this headline, “X-Rays of Dean’s Head Reveal Nothing.”

This story reminded me of that story...:D
