Who has forgotton the lessons of 911?
Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 01:17 PM by bpilgrim
Bush likes to say that 'he won't forget the lessons learned that fateful day'

but then he enacts policies repeatedly that either put us in harms way directly or indirectly like, closing fire stations in NYC, not searching every piece of luggage on every flight, not putting a marshal on every flight, not providing the police and other first responders with the correct equipment and headcounts to do their jobs.

not to mention threatening the whole world with nukes and mini nukes, exploiting it to starting a 'pre-emptive' (PREVENTIVE) WAR to steal a defenseless - first we had up against the wall for over a decade, stripped searched, then once we were certain they were not a threat we gave the order to attack - nations resources, letting the taliban and al-quaida reconstitute - not to mention the heroin business - in afghanistan at the same time lying repeatedly, calling for attacks on our troops, no wmds, on and fuckin on...

we ALL need to speak up and out!

thank 'gore' he invented the internet

peace

4. Why Three Hundred Fire Fighters Died
not providing the police and other first responders with the correct equipment

The heroic version of why 300 firefighters perished in the Twin Towers is that they refused to abandon the people they were helping. The reality is that a number of screw-ups combined that day.

  • Highrise safety was ignored in the design of the buildings. It had been known for years that if a serious fire broke out, there would be people who could not be rescued.

  • Some of the staircases terminated abruptly on an upper story - you had to cross the elevator lobby in the smoke and darkness to find where they continued.

  • The police in a helicopter above the buildings could see them wobbling, but could not communicate that to the Fire Department because they were on a different frequency.

  • Many firefighters never heard the order to evacuate the building because of easily-preventable radio "dead spots".

The list goes on ....

7. Have we had a debate on the lessons yet?
No. When we do, perhaps I can remember them.
