America has a history of launching wars purely for financial gain, with the idiot population believing they were victims. it's amazing how many people can't see 9/11 was the best thing to happen to the right wing/corporate america and religion. I'm just wonder what's next..

The True Cause of the Second World War
http://www.threeworldwars.com/world-war-2/ww2.htm

------------------snip---------------
He had made secret commitments to Winston Churchill and the English government to become involved in the war against Germany and he knew that the only way he could fulfill his secret commitments to Churchill to get us into the war, without openly dishonoring his pledges to the American people to keep us out, was by provoking Germany or Japan to attack.

Roosevelt moved towards the Pacific theater first, knowing that, if he could provoke Japan to attack America first, America would automatically be at war with Germany as well. He also knew that, should Germany attack America, Japan would have to declare war on America. So Roosevelt attempted to get either nation to attack the United States first. Japan was to get the first opportunity.

In October, 1940, Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox sent for Admiral J.O. Richardson, Commander-in-Chief of the American fleet in the Pacific. Knox advised him that the President wanted him to establish a patrol of the Pacific—a wall of American naval vessels stretched across the western Pacific in such a way as to make it impossible for Japan to reach any of her sources of supply; a blockade of Japan to prevent by force her use of any part of the Pacific Ocean. Richardson protested vigorously. He said that would be an act of war, and besides, we would lose our navy. Of course Roosevelt had to abandon it.

It is important to remember that, in November, 1940, just after this incident, candidate Roosevelt told the American people: "I say to you fathers and mothers, and I will say it again and again and again, your boys will not be sent into foreign wars."

America has by-far the longest standing government, so 'we' have done more of just about everything 'than any existing government.'

14. Thank you, I was just about to point that out.
Duke, Jew-hating holocaust denier, racist bigot, and nazi-wannabe, has a vested interest in making Germany and the Nazis look like the poor victims and the U.S. and allied forces look like the bad guys in order to justify his warped, bullshit, hate-filled revisionism.

WE weren't the aggressors in WWII, the NAZIS (the most evil, horrible satanic group of subhuman monsters that ever existed) were! WE weren't the ones endangering the world in WWII, the NAZIS and the AXIS powers were! If it weren't for the U.S. and England and the French Resistance Movement, we and most of the rest of the world would be speaking German right now. WE weren't the ones who attacked and occupied country after country in Europe, enslaving their citizens and shipping their Jews, Gypsies, gays, "mentally deficient", "insufficiently Aryan", etc. off to suffer and die in the horrid concentration camps, camps that WE and the allies liberated. I suggest you read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" before you do anything else! And think about the three hundred thousand Americans who gave their lives in WWII to end the Nazi scourge.

Oh, and btw, Japan had been wanting to attack us for a very long time, at least a decade before Pearl Harbor; its alliance with Germany and Italy during WWII was the perfect opportunity.

11. That's called a straw man
You failed to answer the point of my thread, and instead starting talking about a presumed hatred of jews on Americas part. Which is clearly not the case for about the last 60 years.

Anyways, what was your point? America evil nation worse than Nazi Germany or something?

13. Piss poor analogy.
FDR's pre-war actions may have provoked Japan to attack our military base at Pearl Harbor to break the embargo of rubber and oil exports from Indonesia/Philippines. But I think the motivations of FDR were completely understandable and timely in protecting both the US interests and the free world's.

Europe was falling to the Nazi War machine and FDR knew we'd have to come into the fight soon or risk a far greater Nazi threat if it was allowed to consolidate and strengthen their grip on the occupied European countries. Japan and Germany had also entered into a war alliance that threatened us directly on both sides of our continent.

But FDR was also cognizant that there was a significant American ambivalence to the Nazi threat. Days before Pearl Harbor, national polls had this country evenly divided between engagement and isolationism. The sneak attack provided the necessary event to unify this country's resolve and motivation to enter the war.

So your analogy is totally bogus and rather inane. A better case would be to compare our Iraqi invasion to Hitler's blitzkreig war- Bush and Hitler used fabricated "events" to declare war on defenseless countries with the intent of stealing strategic resources and further narrow interests of personal power.

Nice try, though.

16. Yes- FDR's actions would better fit the pattern if he had...
Used Pearl Harbor as a rationale to invade the USSR.

Instead, he went after the country that attacked us. And when Germany declared war on us (not the other way around), he attacked them.

Bush is no FDR!

On the other hand...

Too many scary parallels between Bush's behavior and Hitler's behavior to consider (though you name a few). :scared:

21. Christ that is a one sided view of the situation.
Edited on Thu May-06-04 11:54 PM by FDRrocks
The documents are, on the surface, horribly incriminating. Japan was a tripartite power who was already planning an attack. At the level they were building thier navy they were gaining superiority over our forces.

Action needed to be taken. Otherwise the west coast of the US was in grave danger. To distract ourselves with the Japanese in the West would draw focus away from the greater threat in the Eest, and in the worst case scenario allow Hitlers plans in South and Latin America to develop.

Everyone in the American government was expecting an attack on the Phillipines, at that point. If not the Phillipines then other US interest to the West.

It's easy to see why they did not expect Pearl Harbor. They did not 'provoke' Japan either. Japan had joined forces with the Fascists and were planning an attack on the US for the embargoes we imposed on them, which had good reason to be imposed.

And the words of Roosevelt were dishonest. He said that phrase to appease the isolationist majority in the Houses, which he needed to do.

He was, after all, a politician.
