Do you think terrorists will strike at the Olympics?
Should the U.S. stay home?

What do you think the chances of there being bombings or hostage taking at the upcoming Olympic games in Greece? What do you think the impact would be if something did happen?

On an ironic footnote, it was President Carter who had the U.S. boycott the Olympics in 1980 because Russia had invaded Afghanistan. I wonder if Russia will be boycotting this year? :P

1. Sadly
I think so.

I don't trust Greece to provide adequate security - they can't even get the stadium built.

I fear many athletes will avoid the games, and I won't blame them.

2. Sure.
Staying home won't do any good.

I'm sorry...but I think events have been set in motion that will result in a rather messy future for quite awhile.

4. I think our government...
should try and conduct an "honest" assessment of whether the US presence endangers the safety of the athletes and spectators.

It has been reported that the construction is behind schedule, things may be a little loose, so it may be prudent for us to stay away.

My heart goes out to the American athletes if they can't go. They have worked very hard.

I won't miss it too much. I used to love the Olympics, but NBC and the IOC has destroyed them with their puff piece coverage and endless commercials.

5. No...
I think the chances are pretty slim. The impact? The same impact terrorism always has had.
But, I mean, if people want to base their lives around the 1/100,000,000 chance they MIGHT be the victim of terrorism when they leave home, fine, stay.

8. Sure...."terrorists" will strike anywhere....
if there is a purpose behind it.
In this day and age, I don't believe in "terrorists". Do you?
