Terrorism Alerts - Wag the Dog Speculation
Does anyone have links to any articles analyzing the speculation that the Terrorism Alerts after 911 where used to cover up negative news stories about the Bush administration? Thanks.

1. Not enough sentences, friend.
This will be locked if you don't edit your post to have at least five sentences. And that would be a shame because I'm sure you will find all you need here regarding your question.

4. This is a no-spin zone
Bush didn't cover up anything, he laid out his platform to the American people right after the two towers fell. Now, excuse me while I put on my tin foil cup, but what did Bush cover up? You all are living in the land of Oz

Not that I expect the disruptor to return to see this, but the WH admitted last year that the terror alerts were being used for purely political reasons.

The liberal Washington Times reported on May 22, 2002:

"The Bush administration issued a spate of terror alerts in recent days to mute criticism that its national security team sat on intelligence warnings in the weeks before the September 11 attacks. The warnings, including yesterday's uncorroborated FBI report that terrorists might target the Statue of Liberty, quieted some of the lawmakers who said President Bush failed to act on clues of the September 11 attacks..."

The latest alerts were issued "as a result of all the controversy that took place last week," said Bush spokesman Ari Fleischer, referring to reports that the president received a CIA briefing in August about terror threats, including plans by Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network to hijack U.S. commercial airliners.

Also, in January 2003, FBI and CIA whistleblowers told Capitol Hill Blue that the White House was scripting phony terror alerts to maintain hysteria, upkeep President Bush’s approval ratings and milk extra defense funding.
