Who was in charge? Who is in charge? Who's running the country?
Edited on Fri May-07-04 03:14 PM by bigtree
If I'm not mistaken, not one of these defense officials testifying has taken any responsibility for any of the actions of their subordinates. Bush and Rumsfeld say they're sorry but neither has stepped up and acknowledged that these actions took place under their leadership, and I don't expect them to. This White House's refusal to hold anyone in the leadership accountable for any of the multiple failures regarding our invasion and occupation of Iraq makes it clear that Bush won't, or can't, lead.

We have no president in America. Every sham appointment this counterfeit loser has made spends all of their time defending and preserving their own false authority.

We have an installed ruling-class oligarchy, Bush is too ignorant or too timid to manage his own cabal. He has no overriding mission except to hold on to power, and this is reflected in the obstinacies of his administration hacks who refuse to be held accountable for their inaction and their cronyism.

If we followed the chain of command to its end, who would we find in charge? Who will take responsibility for the colossal failure in Iraq? Who's running the country?

1. I think his ignorance cripples him
He is cowed at people who seem to know more than him, which is everyone. So he takes their so called "credibility" and wears it like an ill-fitting suit, but he has put on the emperor's clothes! Meanwhile, this is exactly how they manipulate him, by reminding him of his inferior knowledge, and general disinterest.

It's scary as hell.

2. Dumb president: dumb idea.
This was all out in the open during the 2000 campaign. The idea was it didn't really matter that he's pretty much a know-nothing. He would have all these wise old heads around him to advise him. I hope the disasters of this "presidency" will drive a steak through the heart of that idea for good.

3. His father had the same kind of White House
He lost interest in his job and blew off the election, and did next to nothing in the face of a recession.

4. Depends: if it's taking credit, W. if it's responsibility
I dunno. As Clark said:
"This is an administration quick to take credit, slow to admit responsibility"
