What did Lieberman say????
So both Eschaton and TPM have mentioned that Lieberman said something totally outrageous (I believe in regards to the Iraqiprisiontorturegate) - but I haven't been able to find just what he said.

Does anyone know?

1. "Did the people responsible for 9/11 apologize?"
Edited on Fri May-07-04 03:39 PM by BlueEyedSon
Hysterical or pathetic!

(on edit: What does torturing Iraqis have to do with UBL & al Queda?)

2. He said nobody has apologized to us for 9/11
or, for killing Americans in Iraqi streets. I don't know if he meant to show what big people we are for apologizing, or to point out that we shouldn't have to because no one has apologized to us. Either way, it wasn't good.

3. Paraphrasing, "nobody from 9-11 apologized" and "when 4
american citizens were hanging from a bridge, we didn't get an apology for that either".

He was a total and complete embarrassment. I am ashamed that he considers himself a democrat.

9. Right on.
He is an embarrassment.
In my opinion he is blinded about anything involving the illegal Iraq war because he is Jewish and his love for Israel blinds him to things like this.

NOTE: That is not meant as anything racial. My wife and half of my family are Jewish and that subject has come up more than once.

12. I hear ya. I didn't get anything racial out of it.
But since you bring up his Jewish heritage do think Holocoust survivors would agree with the Nazi's "putting torture in context" to protect Hitler? No friggin' way. Torture is torture and it effects each individual differently. Screw him. My dislike for him has reached the level of dislike I have for the * administration.

16. Should Bremer have apologized for that?
After all, he was the person in charge.

PS....what a complete jerk, Lieberman (D-Israel) is.

4. Basically he said that
the people who killed the people in the Trade center and the people who killed and displayed the bodies in the Iraq city didn't apologize.

It was a political statement, along the lines of aren't we so noble here in the United States and at least we weren't as bad as the enemy in their acts.

I thought it was inappropriate myself, not sure about outrageous.

15. Lieberman can rot alongside Zell Miller.
I said it back in August 2003 and his abominable 'performance' today merely confirms it.
